The Revolution Has Begun
"There's no need to call me sir Professor."
FULL NAME: Antonin Marek Dolohov NICKNAMES: None. AGE: Thirty-Eight BIRTHDAY: October 13 SEXUALIY: Heterosexual BLOODLINE: Pureblood HOUSE: N/A (attended Durmstrang) YEAR: N/A JOB: N/A SIDE: Death Eater SPECIES/SPECIAL ABILITIES: Occlumens CANON: yes
"You don't know what I'm capable of, you don't know what I've done!"
GENERAL APPEARANCE: Antonin is, at first glance, not much different from the next guy. He is average size and average weight; one thing that would make him stand out in a crowd is his liking for designer suits. He is a little on the smallish side, the scrawny side; this Death Eater is not the kind of person to intimidate others with his size. Quite the contrary, as a matter of fact, since his smallish side got him a lot of abuse in his life. No, there is really nothing that makes him stand out from the next guy. He blends in well with other; he is not the type people would stay away from at first glance. In fact, it is only when they look a little bit closer that they realize something is a little bit. . . off.
It's the eyes, most people say. They are a light, amber-brown, almost like a wolf's. They're kind of dark goldish in color, with dark brown fleck and is mostly dark brown, though when the light hits them in a certain way they're more on the gold side than the brown side. It's not the color that gets people though--it's the way he looks at people, almost as if they aren't even there. It's more that he looks through them, in some other world that only he inhabits. His hair ranged in color from dark brown to a darkish lightist tannish color of sorts, and tends to be rather wild. MOST LIKED FEATURE: um. . . his eyes? He's not one to care about appearance MOST HATED FEATURE: His small stature HERITAGE: Czech and Russian ETHNICITY: Caucasian
"The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure."
GENERAL PERSONALITY: The most dominating trait of Antonin is the fact he has Addictive Personality Disorder. He tends to feel a sense of isolation, turning towards inhuman things for comfort. In his case, the rather disturbing ‘drug of choice’ is human blood, coming from when his mind first started on that dangerous spiral downwards into. . . insanity, being the kindest word. Antonin isn't one to cross mainly because for the most part he is not fully in control of himself. His senses are off, he sees things hears things senses things that really do not quite exist. He is prone to irrational fear and irrational bouts of anger. Antonin is not good with personal relationships, finding it hard to connect with people over any kind of thing. He cannot seem to trust people at all, and instead finds comfort in many other things. When it comes to relationships he is completely inept, stemming from the fact he feels he cannot trust anyone. Antonin tends to be a little bit afraid of commitment, and that he will be hurt beyond repair. While he is married, he feels absolutely no connection whatsoever for his wife other than a mild disdain, and still to this day does not quite understand what came over him when he married her. He suspects a love potion was involved.
Antonin oftentimes finds himself falling into the same destructive patterns, which is a bit of a hallmark of APD. He likes his cigarettes, he likes his coffee, and he likes his women. What he doesn't like is a bit less defined, since he would try anything at least once--but there is one thing he truly despises, and that is when people pick on weak, defenseless creatures. When they abuse their power and their underlings. When they cause pain for no good reason (although what exactly defines a 'good reason' are a bit hazy, and change a lot. In his case.) A bit of an oddity, Antonin enjoys tending to plants (violent, vicious plants, but that's beside the point) because it calms him. it can be said that Antonin is almost ruled by irrational fears; he is a coward, yes, but don't let him hear you say that.
Antonin is constantly focused on short-term rather than long-term. He is fairly uncomfortable with making plans, especially when he is the one who has to make the plans himself. He is good at following orders, mostly, and will do so without asking questions. He is extremely loyal if you manage to capture his attention and his trust, since his trust is not an easy thing to come by. He is not very good with emotions; not other people’s, and not his own. There is a reason he has addictions, and a part of that is to deal with his wildly fluctuating emotions. HOBBIES: -- Practicing Dark Magic -- Reading -- gardening lolwhut DISLIKES: -- His wife -- Muggles -- People who cause pain to small defenseless creatures (muggles don't count as small and defenseless) -- Children -- Sarcasm LIKES: -- Small furry creatures -- Sleeping -- Being outside -- Experimental spells -- The ocean FEARS: -- Death -- Pain SECRETS: -- his stutter;; which is why he is a man of few words -- his APD
"I enjoyed the meetings, too. It was like having friends."
GENERAL HISTORY: Antonin's father was a Russian wizard who had fled to the Czech Republic because he was being hunted by the Russian authorities who believed he'd been brutally murdering Muggles. Whether he was or wasn't was hazy; no one ever really knew whether he was responsible, as he would adamantly deny having anything at all to do with it. His mother, on the other hand, was a native Czech who had helped his father into the country with setting off any warning bells within the government. It was there that they met and fell in love. They moved away from Prague to a small village that seemed fairly safe (as safe as a hunted wizard could be) and they settled there in relative peace.
Antonin didn't have the best childhood, if you could believe that. He was born in Nížkov, in Zdar nad Sazavou District in the Highland Region of the Czech Republic. His parents hadn't wanted a kid; it was too much trouble, they said. It was too much of a hassle to raise a child. So, in the end, he was pretty much ignored and left to his own devices once he turned four and was no longer quite so needy, as his mother put it. It was probably not the best idea to let their young son wander about on his own at such a young age, especially since that was when his magic started to manifest and when they didn't live in a Wizarding community but instead a Muggle village, where there was quite the risk of being exposed. While his mother and father were both exceedingly careful, the young Antonin didn't have quite the same idea of 'careful.' In other words, he wasn't in any way careful at all.
Antonin did magic in public, without exactly knowing what he was doing. He was just the village freak, he was that Dolohov kid, the stupid child with the irresponsible parents who could not even control they're own son. What was more true was that most likely no one could control 'tonin, as even at such a young age it was obvious his magic was strong. The adults tended to keep their distance from the child, but their own children took it upon themselves to make Antonin's life a living hell. Even from a young age Antonin was rather scrawny and on the smaller end, making him the perfect target for the larger, more cruel muggle bullies that lived there.
And so began the torment and the cruelties of the muggle children, who only knew him as that freaky little scrawny kid who does weird things. Different, as a general rule in that area, was bad. Mostly it started with harmless stuff; calling him names, pushing him around, doing what seems so cruel to small children. It was when he started to get older that things started getting a little bit more violent. It was when he came back from his first year at Durmstrang, as a matter of fact. This learning of dark magic and this sort of anti-Muggle sentient he learned there bled over to his time back home in the Czech Republic, and made him a little bit more confident, a little more like he was better than all these other kids who didn't have a drop of magical blood in their body.
Those kids didn't like that, oh no no no. It mostly made it worse. More taunts followed, and the more they pushed, the more Antonin faltered. His stutter developed, and that just became cause for more ridicule, and more things for them to make fun of--they often just made him talk so they could laugh at him. Antonin became introverted, became less likely to talk and more likely to keep everything to himself. He made up stories to his parents to account for the bruises, the scratches, his nightmares--but nothing ever seemed to get better for him, it only got worse.
Years passed. Durmstrang was both good and bad for the young Antonin, as he learned to defend himself and he learned hatred. He learned the value of pain and the value of fear, learned that as a Pureblood he was greater in all ways than the Muggles who found so much joy in tormenting him. He discovered a love for making up new spells, honing his raw magical talent and becoming better and better at his spellwork. His magic was strong, stronger than a lot of others, and it might have been that that made him a little bit more unstable than usual.
When he came home for summer after his fifth year, that was when the torment became a bit more violent on the side of the Muggles. Antonin owned a cat, a smallish black cat that he loved more than anything. Well now, the Muggles got a hold of that cat, and the leader--being maybe a tad bit more messed up in the head than Antonin at that point, well, he killed it. In front of 'tonin. Not quickly, not kindly--and well, that might have been the breaking point for him, since he had been teetering on the edge of the knife for so long. In fact, that was Antonin's first taste of blood.
Things pretty much went downhill from there. He was more wild, less thought more do, less reality and more. . . well, whatever little world he was living in at that particular point in time. He left the Czech Republic for England after his seventh year, seeking shelter, seeking a place free of the Muggles he had grown to hate passionately. It was there that he met his future wife, Alecto. How exactly this relationship came to be is a bit hazy. He suspects the involvement of a love potion, since he feels absolutely nothing for her now except a mild dislike. But it was through her that he fell in with the Death Eaters, which was probably the best thing that ever happened to him, all things considered. Now he could use his talents for good instead of evil (well, in his mind, at least). He stays with Alecto because it would only hurt the cause were he to hurt her, but it is rather difficult for him, especially when she started to have children. He's no good with children, especially after they pass the age of nine and they can take care of themselves.
