He really probably shouldn’t have agreed to this whole thing. It was all rather stupid really. Going to a dance where you couldn’t even pick your own partner. Honestly, what if you were paired with someone you didn’t like? Hampton was a Greyback… no one would like him. And knowing his luck, he had gotten stuck with a Lupin. He sighed slightly, staring at his reflection in the mirror. He was in the boy’s toilet on the first floor. And he was currently thinking about just ditching his ‘date’. He was really only fooling himself. And he knew that. Piper Lupin had probably already ditched him. He didn’t know much about the eldest Lupin child. But he had heard that she had somewhat of a ‘split persona’. How did he get stuck with her?! Was this some type of a joke for Professor Dumbledore? Well, Hampton wasn’t laughing.
Not that there wasn’t anything wrong with her. Merlin no. She was extremely good looking. In Hampton’s opinion, better looking as the red head instead of the blond she always made herself to be. Good looking, but not his type. Of course, he wasn’t entirely sure he had a type but…oh well. Looking himself over in the mirror, he decided that he was as ready as he would ever be. No need to wait any longer. He had to get this over with. The sooner he got down to the Great Hall, the sooner this thing started… and the sooner he was out of there! A frown reappeared on his features.
What the HELL was he doing?! He wasn’t the ‘party’ Type. At least, not when he couldn’t choose his own date. If he would have been going in a group he was semi comfortable with, that would have been okay: Another story entirely. But that wasn’t the case. In fact, the only reason he was really attending the ball was because he knew his father would have been pissed if he didn’t attend it. Fenrir would have seen this as a way of ‘learning about the enemy’. All to better get leverage on them. Shaking his head, he turned on the faucet and placed his hands under the running water, cupping them to gather the cool liquid. When he had enough, he bent forward, splashing his face. Alright, he was going out there, and he wasn’t turning around!
Before he could psyche himself out, he quickly turned and headed for the door, his slightly tattered dress robes flowing behind him. He wasn’t concerned about his appearance. He was used to looking shabby. All part of being a werewolf. A rueful smile appeared on his features. In all honesty, besides his siblings, Piper was probably one of the few people he had more in common with. Ironic? Maybe. But that tends to happen when your father was responsible for ‘cursing’ two members of the same family. He quickly made his way down the last remaining steps and came to a stop out in the Entrance Hall. Other students were gathering, and searching for their respective dates. He frowned slightly, scanning the crowd to find his own. He had to bite back a laugh: A Slytherin searching for a Gryffindor without the intent to harm in some shape or form. Maybe this night wouldn’t turn out to be so bad after all.

( hey, soul sister ) ( ain't that mister mister on the radio, stereo ) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Piper slipped into her bright yellow dress, slowly zipping up the back as she gazed at her reflection in the mirror. The soft pleated fabric hugged her curves generously, the neckline and short hem showing off a bit more skin than perhaps she would have liked. The sunny yellow color was a nice contrast to the dark brown of her hair, though now Piper only thought she looked like a banana. She was never completely confident in the way she looked, but especially not during fancy occasions such as this. However, since she wasn’t originally planning on going to this dance, Andy had been the one to pick out the dress. Now that she was no longer around, Piper would just have to suck it up and deal with it. She couldn’t lie – she was a bit nervous about having to go to the ball with a Greyback. This was something that was nagging at her nerves even more than her outfit, and no matter how Piper tried to ignore it, it just wouldn’t go away.
Piper never liked to judge someone just by their name or by what they appeared to be on the outside, but it was a bit too easy to do so when the name was Greyback. It was no secret that the father of the Greyback pack was quite terrifying, and there was really no telling what his offspring were like, but of course, one would rather be safe than sorry. Piper certainly wasn’t willing to place her trust in a Greyback without good reason. She was a bit wiser than that. And of course, there was the whole fact that the father Greyback was the man who’d caused the lives of her father and younger sister to be so harsh and tiring, so not only was the situation potentially dangerous… it was personal. While Piper wouldn’t be outright unkind to her date (Hampton? Was that his name?) she was certainly going to be on her toes for most of the night, just in case anything out of the ordinary happened.
To top off her outfit, Piper wrapped a thin decorative belt around her waist, looping it fancily in front. She took a necklace with a rather large chain from her jewelry box and placed it around her neck. Looking in the mirror, she was about as pleased with her appearance as she figured she would ever be, and so as anxiety trembled in her body, Piper took a deep breath and turned away from the mirror. She stepped into a pair of plain black flats, choosing them over the extravagant heels that Andy had laid out. There was really no reason for her to make herself even more uncomfortable, and there was no way Piper wanted to wear tall heels the entire night. Her feet would be incredibly grateful for this decision when they were still relatively painfree even hours into the night. Piper was a bit on the taller side anyways – she really didn’t need any more unnecessary help.
Piper slowly but surely made her way down multiple flights of stairs to the Great Hall. There was the faintest tinge of pink still residing on her cheeks as she walked with Jake Lawrence, her very best friend. Of course, the two couldn’t be together for long – they both had their own dates to find, and so with her heart pounding nervously, Piper said goodbye to her friend. Jake turned away to meet the Head Girl, Charlotte, where she’d told him to meet, and Piper stepped into the Great Hall, already the crowd of people and loud music overwhelming her senses and gripping her body in anxiety.
Thankfully, Piper was able to spot her assigned date. He towered over the rest of the students, looking a bit rugged but otherwise tame. Piper gulped her nerves back, approaching him slowly as his back was turned to her. She cleared her throat before speaking, but even so, she was barely able to voice her greeting very loudly. “H-hampton?” she stuttered nervously, slightly embarrassed that she couldn’t seem to hold herself together better than this. She didn’t know how well this pairing would fare for the rest of the evening, and it was that uncertainty that got the best of her now. Her eyes darted back to the crowd, hoping to catch a glimpse of her best friend. Jake always made her feel safe no matter what, but seeing as he was nowhere to be found, Piper knew that, though they were surrounded by students, she was in this all alone. This knowledge really wasn’t doing anything to help her nerves, but she supposed she would just have to deal with it for now and attempt to have as much fun as she could, no matter how difficult that appeared to be at the moment. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -( the way you move ain't fair, you know ) ( words ) 808 ( outfit ) here ( lyrics ) hey, soul sister by train ( credit ) SUGARSARAH at CAUTION 2.0!
