The Revolution Has Begun
"There's no need to call me sir Professor."
FULL NAME: Jasmine Lorraine Cypress NICKNAMES: Jas AGE: 15 BIRTHDAY: July 22 SEXUALIY: Straight BLOODLINE: Half-blood HOUSE: Hufflepuff YEAR: Going into the 6th year JOB: None. SIDE: Side of Good! SPECIES/SPECIAL ABILITIES: None. CANON: Original
"You don't know what I'm capable of, you don't know what I've done!"
GENERAL APPEARANCE: Jasmine considers herself extremely plain, an opinion supported by the fact that she had been sorted into Hufflepuff on coming to Hogwarts. Basically, she has fair skin that could be mistaken for pale with her equally fair hair. Her blond hair curls naturally into slight waves and is kept short most of the time. Jasmine never lets it get past her shoulders if she can help it. As typical for most blonds, she has blue eyes that could be bright if she had something to excite her. In one glance, she is a plain girl.
In the second glance, it is noticeable that she is of average height. About five feet, six inches tall. She weighs between 120 to 130 pounds, depending on how the previous week had gone. She's proportional in other words. What no one sees are the burn scars that spans her whole back and reach onto her hips. MOST LIKED FEATURE: If she really had to choose, it would be her hair. It is the one thing she has control over. MOST HATED FEATURE: Her scars. They make her feel ugly and unapproachable. Her hair is kept short so that she can't feel it touch them. HERITAGE: American ETHNICITY: Caucasian
"The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure."
GENERAL PERSONALITY: If it was to be very general, then Jasmine could be described as distant. She is an extreme introvert to the point that she will make up excuses to avoid going places that could be even the least bit crowded. It could be said that she had a minor case of social anxiety in that sense. When she is among a smaller group of people, she is able to act more... acceptable. She is shy and quiet, more of a thinker than a doer.
Even among friends, she rarely offers conversation. Very few are accepting of this and rarely push her limits. Inside her shell, she is an intelligent girl and studies hard to do well in classes. She has the dream to want to be more than she is but not the will. Being sorted into Hufflepuff had affected how she saw herself. In a family full of Ravenclaws, it is hard for her to cope being in what most people she knew consider the lowest house of the four.
The only time she even shines just a bit is when she paints. She allows her feelings to seep into the paintbrush and guide her hand on the canvas. Jasmine wants to feel the beauty she creates for herself but can't seem to find out how. HOBBIES: Writing Reading Painting DISLIKES: Loud people Cats Potions Crowds Balls LIKES: Art Books Sweets Movies Pillows FEARS: Someone seeing her scars Fire SECRETS: Her scars Considers suicide
"I enjoyed the meetings, too. It was like having friends."
GENERAL HISTORY: Jasmine Cypress was born in the countryside of East Sussex, England. Her family had thought to live as quiet a life as possible, away from the nonsense of the Death Eaters and politics. Henry Cypress wanted nothing more than to escape the reality of the wizarding world in that time and be with his muggle wife, Patricia Mowry. They were in love and she had been able to accept the strangeness of magic into her life, even if it was only a little. Henry had never embraced his wizarding blood fully, wishing he could be ignorant of the dangers in his world.
Alas, no matter how far they could run or how quiet they lived, magic finds everyone. Henry had taken a trip to London for the weekend for some minor business Diagon Alley, leaving his seven year old daughter Jasmine with Patricia. Everything was fine up until the night he was to return. Death Eaters stormed the area, breaking into other wizarding homes and even muggle homes. Hearing the trouble coming closer, Patricia hid Jasmine in a secret closet that Henry had built for such purposes. It was spelled for invisibility, soundproof, and protected against most danger.
Patricia hardly had time to help herself as the Death Eaters broke into the home. She was killed quickly and upon seeing no one else, they set fire to the small home. Jasmine cried into her knees, back to the door of the closet. There should have been no way for the fire to reach her but it did. It licked through the cracks of the door to burn her back and hips. There was little room to get away from the fire so she had to bear it until she was found by her father barely an hour later. By then, she was delirious with the pain and her back was in a horrible state.
It took months for the burns to heal and it left scars all over her back. Thankfully, it is easily hidden by a shirt but even then, Jasmine takes no chances. It has to be long with sleeves and with no dip in the back at all. She never really got over the grief of losing her mother and it caused her to build walls around herself to help her heart heal. Years have passed but she remains quiet and rather scared of opening up once more. She now lives with her father in a small London apartment. He tries to live as a muggle even more now due to the incident but he knew that he couldn't keep Jasmine away from her magic. FAMILY: Henry Cypress (father), Patricia Mowry Cypress (mother, deceased)
"Make way for the heir of Slytherin, seriously evil wizard coming through..."
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE: No one else was in the room of her dormitory. Jasmine made sure of that at least three times. She also made sure that there would be no one coming for at least the length of time it took for her to get changed into her uniform. As usual, she had everything laid out nicely over her bed, having gone through the basics while the other girls got ready and left. Her teeth were clean, hair brushed. It was just a matter of getting dressed.
Jasmine always waited until everyone else was gone before doing this part. Some of the girls had wondered why she acted so odd about changing in front of them but they just assumed she must be super shy. That was part of it. The other part was what laid beneath the clothes, on her back. Feeling the slide of the cloth over her scars made her cringe with disgust. She wanted nothing more to have them gone. To be normal. She removed her pajamas before carefully pulling on different parts of the uniform.
She was very methodical in how she dressed. Jasmine wanted to avoid seeing her distorted and stretched scars and she also wanted to avoid any attention to that area. It was annoying at times when she ran late but she kept the process the same none the less. Tights, skirt, shoes, bra, shirt, tie, vest. Then last but not least, the school robes. Then she would finally look in the mirror, make sure there were no wrinkles or anything else out of place. Finally, Jasmine would leave and rush down to another day of school.
"Reading between the lines, I’d say she thinks you’re a bit conceited, mate."
