"You don't know what I'm capable of, you don't know what I've done!"
GENERAL APPEARANCE: When Sirius walks into a room, all of the ladies (and of course, a few of the guys) notice. There’s the obvious reason being that he’s really tall, standing at 6’1 (and counting? who knows!) but then the other fairly obvious reason, he’s good looking. In his youth, some girls would say the best of the Gryffindor boys, and others, like over-excited third year girls, would perhaps say the best in all of Europe. Even Sirius would admit that that was going a little far, but he still was well aware of his dashing appearance.
The aforementioned “dashing appearance” could best be described in a cliché, harlequin romance fashion:
Sirius Black was a very tall young man, and well built as well. His strong arms looked just perfect to be held in, pressed up against his solid chest. If you were to look up into his eyes while in this embrace, you’d see dark gray eyes, smoldering with some sort of intense want. But if you were to look into them any other time, they’d be clear as a gray sky could be, unless he was laughing, or teasing a friend. Then they’d be sparkling with glee. And if he was angry, or feeling dangerous, they’d grow dark, and narrow with distrust. At which time your ex lover had probably arrived (causing this distrust) and therefore-
You get the point. Sirius is handsome, dashing and any other attractive synonym you can come up with, enough to be the character in one of those trashy books that some Hufflepuff girls read. He’s the stereotypical “tall, dark and handsome” that girls love. He’s got the hair: dark black hair that rests about an inch under his ears, and falls into his eyes very easily without looking awkward. When life is going fine, his hair is usually well kept and clean (though that's not to say in place!), but when things aren't going well, when he is feeling depressed, his hair may grow out, unkempt and dirty. This means he usually has a lot of other things more important than hygiene on his mind.
See, even just his hair says so much. But his face says more: Sirius has the classic Black looks, haughty, the face of a pure bred man who got the best of the batch. His skin is free of blemish, for the most part, anyway, and when he smiles the corners of his mouth crease, his smile looking like it could have easily been painted on by Michelangelo or something. It shows that he is a pure blooded Black, even if he could care less about that. The only thing that sets him apart from his family in looks would be the brightness that shines in his eyes and in his smile. Not all of the Blacks have that.
Unlike his nearly flawless physical attributes, Sirius doesn’t dress to match. Like most teenage boys, he doesn’t really care. He doesn’t want to look terrible, but you’d never see him in anything resembling a suit unless it was forced upon him, and even that would be saying something. He prefers the laid back approach in that arena. He’ll wear muggle tee shirts and jeans and occasionally his robes, but he never puts too much effort into it. Thank Merlin for him, he doesn’t need to, being so good looking.
And on the last note, one notable quirk to his appearance would be the nearly jagged looking scar on the inside of his left arm. Sirius gained this in from an angry duel with his brother at the very end of his sixth year. Plus side? Women like the look of danger (not that he's looking, or anything).
MOST LIKED FEATURE: He's quite happy with his looks, really, but he's actually partial to his scar. He likes how it sets him apart from the rest of the Blacks. It's a reminder that he never once let them get the best of him, he always stood his ground. Plus it's pretty badass.
MOST HATED FEATURE: It's not one feature in general, it's just the fact that he very much looks like the family he was raised in. He can't wipe the Black off his face.
HERITAGE: English
ETHNICITY: Caucasian
"The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure."
GENERAL PERSONALITY: Some people see Sirius Black and they think snobby. Others see him and they think foolish. The Slytherin house and Death Eaters see him and they think blood traitor. Most people have some sort of opinion on him and half of those "most" don't even take the time to find out if they're right. Those who do, though, find a much different person than what everyone else makes him out to be.
If you met him at some party over the years, you'd see him as the fun guy, the party dude. He'd be laughing it up around a bunch of people, telling some joke before downing a good drink. Depending on the type of person you are, you'd either desperately want to join the crowd and have a laugh, or not want to, thinking that you might not be able to keep up. Either way, you'd notice him.
Let's say you were new on the job, and you had to work with him. You'd probably be nervous, you'd wonder what he was like, if everything you'd heard was true. Depending on what you're like, you might actually be stressing over it. But Sirius would waltz right in, friendly, open, but very much the professional. There's no time for games when everyone's depending on you, and you're putting your life on the line. Twenty years ago he might have walked into the situation ready for everything, foolish with passion, intense and ready to fight, no matter the cost. But things are different now. He has a family, a wife and kids that depend on him, and he isn't just going to risk it all to catch one dark wizard out of the great handful of many. Instead you'll find a focussed man intent on doing the job right, and very clearly loving what he's doing. He cares immensely for his work, but age has taught him that there is a line that even he shouldn't cross. His recklessness has found its limit. You might walk away that day being impressed.
You can divide people's opinions on Sirius pretty easily. There are those that look at him and find scum. When he has enemies, the hate runs deep, maybe even bottomless. There are others that can't take him seriously, that think that there's no way he every changed from the annoying Marauder that considered himself to be on top. Then there are those that are so enamored with him that all they see is what they want him to be, a dark, handsome escape from reality. They probably think he cheats on his wife, and they hope that it will be with them. They get a kind smile from him, and suddenly they think that he was flirting. In all honesty, Sirius barely even notices that attention half the time. When you get away from all of these opinions and stereotypes, and you get down to who Sirius is to those who actually know him, you'll find a lot more.
Sirius is fiercely loyal and cares more than anything for his loved ones, he'd go to the ends of the earth for them. He is so loyal that it can be taken to the edge of recklessness, much like most anything in his life. He doesn't think in the heat of a situation, which almost always turns out with rash behavior on his part. He can be very hotheaded, and always up for a challenge. Sirius is a guy who is mainly driven by emotion, good or bad. He is extremely spirited, and very determined when the time calls for it.
He loves to have as much fun as possible, and there are no rules in his book of fun. Sirius is a goofy guy who loves to have a good laugh with his friends. He's someone who lives for those little moments but he can't help but hype himself up for the giant ones. He's always had a Peter Pan attitude mostly because his actual childhood wasn't that great, and it's seems to only have increased since he's had kids. Sometimes he can be a bit cocky, but that's usually when he's just trying to be impressive to his wife, which never really works. Many people who don't really know him might assume that he's the type of guy to be very flaky with his relationships, never paying enough attention to his wife because he's out with his friends, or completely drifting away from his friends because he's so involved with his wife. But that's not at all true. Sirius tries his best to keep a healthy balance. He doesn't like to shut the people he loves out, and so he's always trying his best to hold onto everyone that truly matters.
Sirius is a trustworthy person who just loves life, even when he screws it up sometimes. Sirius also has strong opinions and is very stubborn in his ways. He won't back down from an argument even if he realizes midway through that he's actually wrong. This is the number one reason that fights with his wife (and he really does try to keep them few and far between) can be so nasty. Another way he's stubborn is that he can't deny himself picking on those he considers to be beneath him. This probably has something to do with the way his parents brought him up. As much as he hates everything they're about, he can't help that some parts of them have stuck with him.
While he picks on others, he never really picks on his friends. No, with them, that's called teasing, and it's a form of affection. Which, for his fellow Marauders, he has immense amounts of this. They’re his extended family, and he only really cares what they and his actual family think of him, and not all the others. With them, he’s the truest form of himself and he’s happy. And that’s all Sirius really wants, just like everyone else, to be happy. He wants to live a long and happy life with his wife and kids. He wants to fill his life up with awesome experiences and amazing people, even though those amazing people will probably drive him into making extremely senseless, rash mistakes. But hey, he’ll have the best intentions.
HOBBIES: -Motorcycles: He loves driving and working on them. Especially when they can fly.
-Quidditch: Playing the game is always fun, though he hasn't played a serious game in a long time. But anytime he's got the chance to watch a game, he's up for it.
-Eating: He honestly considers it to be a hobby. Nothing makes him happier than a really great meal, and he'll eat to his heart's content. Yes, he's actually competed in one amateur eating contest. He came in second.
DISLIKES: -Slytherins: Even though he's long graduated, Sirius still has a deep distaste for anyone of the Slytherin house. Growing up in a family full of them while having his beliefs be the total opposite did a number on him. Sirius can't stand Slytherins because of the way he is and was treated by them, how the treat others, and what they seem to represent. Sirius has trouble seeing a Slytherin for anything other than a Slytherin.
-Serious people and party poopers: Sirius always loves to party it up and have as much fun as possible. Any time someone is bringing down his mood he doesn't like it. All he wants to do is have some fun, why can't they go and read somewhere else?
-Not being able to do anything: Sirius hates staying stagnant. If something's happening, he needs to be in on the action. He can't just stand by and let other people take care of the problem, he has to be part of it. If he isn't, he'll go crazy.
-Severus Snape: Having to share the same air as this complete git is a chore. Sirius will never be able to get over his distaste for Snape, and he doesn't even care to try.
-Raw vegetables: At least cook them if they must be consumed! Raw they are simply disgusting, and Sirius will refuse to eat them. He takes eating very seriously, so this is a pretty big deal.
LIKES: - Hestia: In the days before her, he would have simply said girls. But from the moment their romance began he only has really had eyes for her. Sure, he still has eyes, but no one can compare to his wife.
-Pranks: Even though he's much more mature now, Sirius still can't help but love to indulge in a good old prank. With or without his comrades.
-His friends: After growing up without any real friends or family, the marauders were like the ultimate prize. For the longest time Sirius didn't have anyone but them and he feels truly blessed to be lucky enough to have them at all.
-Food: The perfect way for Sirius to end his day is at the table feasting. He stuffs whatever he can right on into his mouth without a care or other thought. He's just living in the moment, like he always loves to do.
-Being the center of attention: He thrives under it, he loves the spotlight. If it didn't take so much damn effort, he's probably try a hand at acting. When the attention is on him, Sirius simply lights up and acts out even more. It probably comes from his lack of attention from his family when he was young. Well, lack of positive attention, anyway.
-Being in on a secret: It makes him feel special, part of something. It's an honor for him to hold a secret on his shoulders, knowing that he is trusted with it. He'd never dream of telling anyone, but Sirius is a very rash person, so that doesn't always fair well with a secret, now does it?
-Being a father: He'd never really had a good role model for one (save James' father), and that has made him want to be the best one he possibly could be even more. He loves spending time with his kids, no matter what that time entails.
-Motorcycles: It's the one bit of pure recklessness that he allows himself. Though really it's not all that reckless because he's a really great driver, but whatever. He only ever drives them for fun, and these days he really doesn't get to do it enough.
FEARS: -That he will somehow turn into all that he hates, thus pushing his children away.
-That he'll get killed on (or off) the job, leaving his family to fend for themselves in such a hard world.
-His family getting hurt in any way.
SECRETS: -Every now and then while in a duel he gets this flash of a thought, that dying then, in that moment of glory, would be amazing. Simply because it would be such a noble way to die. But he always feels quickly ashamed of even thinking that when he has a family that depends on him. It's nothing he wants to happen, but he can't deny the romanticism of it.
-Sometimes he wishes that he could reunite with the rest of the Blacks, make amends or something like that. He knows it's a foolish thought that would never come to fruition, but part of him will always be back in that house. He doesn't even really want it, knowing what his family are all like, but he wishes he could. Family has become increasingly important to him over the years.
"I enjoyed the meetings, too. It was like having friends."
GENERAL HISTORY: Sirius Orion Black was born on the sixth day of the second month of the year 1960. He was born into a family of people that he grew very distant from. His family, the Black family, is one of the most prominent, prestigious Pure Blooded families you can find in the Wizarding World these days. They have a very long, rich history, which overlaps with most all of the other pure blooded families of the day. Their supreme belief is total purity of blood, as their motto, which can be seen at the bottom of their crest (a chevron with two five pointed stars and a short sword between two greyhounds) is Toujours pur ("always pure" in French). This family is all documented on a family tapestry, and any time a member scorns the family in anyway (like marrying a muggle), they are burned right of as if they were never a part to begin with. Even having different beliefs is enough for total hatred and abandonment. Sirius' parents, Walburga and Orion, tried to imbed these beliefs into their son from an early age. Lullabies held lines like "pure is power" and "purity is royalty" that tried to instill the code that being pure blooded was the only way to live.
His parents grilled it deep into him that he was better than everyone else and that there were certain people that weren't even worth his gaze. But even at the age of six years old Sirius knew something didn't sound right. There was something in that scrawny little boy that just said "This is stupid". In fact, one day as the age of eight years, while his father was prattling on about "dirty mudbloods", he yelled out "Bollox!" and then ran off to his room. His little six year old brother, Regulus, sneered at him as he ran past, hissing, "Mudblood lover!" The following years were much the same, only much harsher in some ways for Sirius. His parents were always trying to push him in the "right direction" as they would say, "to succeed". He never would listen though, and that made a very big difference in the long run.
When Sirius made it to Hogwarts, he entered the Great Hall full of fear, even though he put on a brave face and pretended it was all a joke to him. He longed to be placed anywhere but Slytherin, but at the same time he knew that that's the only place Blacks were ever placed. When his name was called there were already a few claps from the Slytherin table, and he looked behind to see. His cousins sat with smirks and sneers, while others grinned. But of course, he was placed in Gryffindor, and all he could do was smile. The table of lions roared with mixed feelings. Of course he joined the "enemy". From that day on his family turned their backs on him almost completely. If it wasn't for three little boys that he sat with that first day, who knows what could've happened. His best friends were what pushed him through each year, each summer. James was his number one, his brother. Everything Sirius was supposed to hate he loved, he couldn't have been happier.
Sirius' first four years at Hogwarts were brilliant in so many ways. For once in his life he was really happy, he joked more than ever before and he truly came alive. Under the stone walls of Hogwarts Sirius felt free to become truly the type of person he wanted to be, no matter what his family said or who they were. With his three comrades, James, Remus and Peter, he was an unstoppable Marauder. They roamed the halls and took over the school. In the years of Hogwarts it seemed Sirius just knew it was his time to really live and he wasn't going to waste it.
The following year, Sirius' fifth, the Marauders came together to do great things. They'd found out some time before about their fellow marauder's dangerous plight. He was a werewolf. But James, Sirius and Peter would stop at nothing to make sure that he wouldn't have to endure the monthly pain alone. They became animagus. Sirius took the form of a great, scruffy black dog. Lovably and fierce, just like he was normally. And not only during this year did they achieve that great high, but they also created an interactive map of the whole entire school, which showed them what every single person was doing in every single spot of the castle. It came in extremely handy when pranking. And of course, the called it The Marauders Map.
Fifth year ended and the summer started. Which called for Sirius finally skipping out on the family he didn't consider his own. He fled for James Potter's house, and they took him in with warmth. The rest of the summer went on to be one of the best he'd ever had, being that he never had to wake up in a place he hated. And when it came to a close, the excitement still lingered. The only thing he wasn't looking forward to in the coming year was running into any family members. By now they all knew what had happened and were sure to be even more loathsome than before. What did he care, though? He'd happily consider them strangers. And when Sirius did make it to Hogwarts, he found it incredibly easy to do so. Sure, there were run ins, that's undeniable, but for the first time Sirius felt like he wasn't tied to them. He was his own man, his last name only that: a name.
The rest of Hogwarts flew by in a whirlwind. James' parents were killed, leaving him devastated. Sirius tried his best to stand by him and be the best friend he could. In a sense, he understood. James felt alone now, he was alone, and Sirius had been alone all his life. But because of that he'd never had anything to lose, and James had just lost nearly everything. It was a hard time, trying to help him out of that period, but he made it. It was hard on Sirius too, but he didn't really let that show. As much as he may have wished they were, they weren't his parents. Despite that, seventh year was mostly good, but Sirius really couldn't wait for it to end. He just wanted to go out there and live his life, experience everything there was to experience. But these days were dark, and by the time they had all gotten out there, it was dangerous. James got married to his Lily, and Sirius was there to support him. He was so happy to see things work out for him after the rough year he had had.
While James spent his time building a life with Lily, Sirius was finding his place in this world. As much as being in the Order and working to be an Auror brought him, it just wasn't enough. He wanted more for himself. It was when he realized all of this that his attention was caught by one Hestia Jones. She was in the Order with them all, and he'd known her at Hogwarts of course, but he'd never really and truly looked at her as anything more than a girl he knew. It was like the blinders had been taken off and suddenly she was nearly all he could think about.
Their romance spun out of control fast, and it was only a few months after hearing about Lily being pregnant that Sirius was hit with his own set of exciting news: Hestia was expecting herself. The wedding was put together not long after that. These days meant that weddings couldn't be as extravagant as one might like, but the couple didn't mind. They were just happy to be together. And knowing that he was at the beginning of starting his own, real family was the most amazing feeling in the world. This was everything that he had always wanted for himself but had never thought he would be lucky enough to get.
They ended up with twin boys, and then two years later they had themselves a little girl. Life was wonderful, despite the fact that the world they lived in was dangerous. Hestia ended up changing it up and becoming the Herbology Professor at Hogwarts. Sirius teased her about it by telling her that he'd finally get to live out his fantasies of hooking up with a teacher. Things were good, wonderful even. Work was hard, and it only got harder with each day, but it was also so fulfilling. Knowing that his family was safe at Hogwarts always kept him going, but he couldn't help the ache that he felt inside because they weren't near. He'd been so proud to see each of them go off to Hogwarts, but it was never easy being alone. He'd spent his whole youth alone, and he couldn't say that the familiarity was comforting. There wasn't a whole lot he could do about this though, and so he enjoyed their summers all together without taking a moment for granted.

"Make way for the heir of Slytherin, seriously evil wizard coming through..."
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE: I don't have any of my Sirius posts on hand, so I hope this is okay.Caleb said, his lips twisting further into the sneer. She didn’t look very happy but she made no real reply, just mumbled something under her breath and pulled him to stand with another couple. He paid her no attention, his eyes instead roving over the colorful crowd, looking for something that might entertain him at least for a bit. He spotted Lily Potter from afar, but made no move forward. He didn’t feel like toying with her just yet, surely he’d have time for that later.
His hand tugged at the hair at the nape of his neck, feeling kind of out of place and wishing that he could just go back to his dorm room and go to bed. He wasn’t in the mood for something like this, for dealing with people. His shoulders tensed, feeling suddenly like there were too many people crowding him. He let out a breath, somewhat shaking it off. He was being stupid, he was better than this, better than most of the people here. He could deal with a silly night wasted ignoring the idiots he went to school with, it wasn’t like he didn’t already do that nearly every day anyway.
And then suddenly he felt a very purposeful poke to his shoulder, accompanied with a rather high pitched greeting of, “I’m Zorro! But you can call me Kalin.” That right there was really the absolute last thing he wanted to hear right now. He didn’t want to converse with anyone, didn’t want to discuss their costumes or whatever stupid topic this kid was going to decide was perfect to talk about. And then he turned around. His breath caught in his throat against his will, his eyes widened. This kid, Kalin, he was beautiful, that much he couldn’t deny himself even though he so desperately was trying to press down any such thought. But there it was. And he found himself then blushing, something he never ever, EVER, did. But there it was. He coughed and cleared his throat, struggling to keep the mask he unconsciously tried to keep in place every single day.
”Caleb,” He found himself answering even though his head was telling him to turn and run. This wasn’t good, not at all. ”And I’m just a ball attendee.” He said, his voice carrying the appropriate level of distaste with a dash of I-don’t-give-a-fuck. He tried to tear his eyes away from that bright face, this Zorro who was stirring up something in his gut that wasn’t at all pleasant, but was masquerading as…as…Caleb wasn’t going to allow that sentence to be finished, because it wasn’t true. He blinked and cleared his throat, suddenly feeling incredibly out of his element.
