The Revolution Has Begun
"There's no need to call me sir Professor."
FULL NAME: Jacqueline Elise Gibson NICKNAMES: She prefers if people call her Jac or even Elise (which is what her mother calls her), but of course there are those that call her whatever they want, which can be extremely trying. AGE: Eighteen BIRTHDAY: September 7 SEXUALIY: bisexual BLOODLINE: halfblood HOUSE: Hufflepuff YEAR: Seventh JOB: n/a SIDE: Order supporter SPECIES/SPECIAL ABILITIES: Other than having a simple, innate understanding of people, not really. CANON: Not at all.
"You don't know what I'm capable of, you don't know what I've done!"
GENERAL APPEARANCE: Jac has long, dark hair. It’s often wavy but she also wears it straight from time to time. Her skin is a medium light tone, and her eyes are very large, and very brown. In general her features are all very dark, much like her mother. Her plump lips are hardly ever in a frown, usually relaxed or smiling.
She isn’t very tall, though she isn’t really short either. She stands at a very average 5’6, which she’s pretty happy with. She’s a body that has many curves, though she’s very fit from all of her quidditch training. She has strong arms, and legs. In general she’d pretty happy with her body, although she knows there can always be improvements.
Jac loves clothes, accessories, jewlery. She loves make up too, and doing her hair. She dresses in nearly anything, though her style leans toward the girly, and chic. She likes darks, and lights. Really, it just depends on her mood and whatever she’s dressing for. Really though, she’ll try anything once. She likes experimenting with her style and seeing what she can do with it. It makes her happy, so generally if she’d wearing something she really likes, she’ll be smiling.
MOST LIKED FEATURE: Her lips. She actually has way too much fun putting lipstick on sometimes. MOST HATED FEATURE: She feels like she has fat ankles. And she isn’t too fond of feet. They’re just...weird. HERITAGE: English, French, Scottish ETHNICITY: Caucasian
"The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure."
GENERAL PERSONALITY:
paranoid: If there’s a storm, she can’t help but worry that some how, some way, she’ll be struck by lightning. If tests are getting handed back, she’ll just know that her grade will be the lowest, even if she knows that she actually worked hard on it. Basically, no matter the situation, Jac is worried that something will go wrong. She just doesn’t see how things can continuously go her way, she’s always looking for what’s going wrong, and how it’s going to get worse. This has really put a rather intense lack of confidence in herself, which bleeds into various aspects of her life. It probably has a lot to do with how she was raised. Her mother was never very confident in herself, or what was going on her life. She’d complain about how things had been going so good for her, and then she’d gotten pregnant and it all went down the drain. It’s been instilled in Jac that things don’t stay good for very long, that there’s always something bad lurking around the corner. cautious: Because of this intense sense of paranoia about her life, Jac is always extremely weary of situations. She doesn’t just jump right in without thinking. She thinks over the situation and then decides whether or not it would be in her best interest to get involved. She’s not a big fan of taking risks.
curious: Despite being very cautious, Jac manages to keep a certain sense of curiosity. She’s interested in the world around her, in what people think and feel. She’s curious about everything, always interested in knowing what’s going on or what a number of experiences are like. This curiosity is what first got her flying, as something like that normally would have made her very, very nervous. Also, her curiosity lends itself to perhaps enjoying a bit of gossip a little too much.
relaxed: When she isn’t worrying herself over things that really don’t matter, Jac is actually quite relaxed. Some may say even a little too relaxed. She’s prone to napping more often than doing her school work, but because of this relaxed vibe she’s also very open to conversation with people of all types. She hangs around the Hufflepuff common room more often than her dormitory, usually lounging about with friends.
inattentive: Jac finds it very hard to keep herself concentrated during class. Her mind usually wanders and she’s left not knowing what she’s missed, and feeling very behind. She usually just lets it go, though, which means it all just piles up on her. This characteristic doesn’t just effect her school work, but also her relationship with her mother. She feels unloved, unwelcomed, and under-appreciated, but she doesn’t do anything about it. She’s a very loyal person, but she gets easily distracted in her relationships, which means that some just don’t last, no matter if she wants them to or not.
determined: When Jac can get herself focused, she really focuses. But it has to be something she really cares about. If she wants it, she’s going to get it. This is another something that her mother really ingrained in her. Her mother is the most determined person she knows, and it’s rubbed off on Jac after all the years of watching her mother really go after everything she wanted in her career and personal life. This determination doesn’t often show in her school work, though once she really starts trying, she’s able to pull herself out of trouble. The determination is a constant when it comes to Quidditch. She never just lets herself get out of the game, she really goes for it.
intuitive: Jac’s extremely connected to her intuitive side, which is probably why Divination is her favorite subject. She generally just gets a feel about things, about whether or not she feels someone is trustworthy, or something like that. Because of this she’s generally rather good with advice, because she just has this sort of instinctual feeling about what seems right. This intuitive nature is mostly with other people, and not necessarily with aspects of her everyday life. She just seems to really get a general understanding of a person, and can be easily empathetic or sympathetic to whatever is going on with them. Because of this she rarely gets into fights if she wants to avoid them, as she can sense what to say and what not to say in that sort of situation. Obviously the better she knows the person, the easier this all comes. Though this isn’t so easy with her mother, because there seems to be some sort of block in understanding.
day dreamer: If Jac’s just sitting around, nine times out of ten she’s somewhere in her head, dreaming up all sorts of possibilities. She just likes getting lost in there, thinking about things she wished had happened, or hoped would. Even things that could never, ever happen in the real world. She just likes to dream it all up. She’s tried writing up stories, but her hands can never keep up with her brain, so she usually doesn’t put forth too much effort. She finds it fun and relaxing, and often a far better place to be than where ever she actually is.
generous: There’s always plenty to go around with Jac. She doesn’t like to hog anything, so if you’re around her you should expect to be offered numerous things. She’s generous with her time, money, food, even clothes. The members of her dormitory know that it’s completely fine to borrow whatever is in her closet as long as they put it back. Sometimes this generosity is just a way to avoid doing something else, like her homework, but it usually comes from the right place.
caring: The people that she cares about are very dear to her. She watches out for them, looks after them, cares for them much more than she often cares about herself. Her friends and family come first, more then often above herself. She’s very affectionate with those she’s most comfortable around, so it’s very easy to tell who she cares about. She’s very sweet as a rule, which makes it clear that when you’re around her, she actually cares about the time spent. It’s not just another conversation to her.
genuine: What you see is what you get with Jac. She doesn’t care to hide a thing. If she says something, she means it. There’s no double meaning, nothing hiding behind her words. And if you really want her honest opinion, she’ll give it to you. Of course, she tries not to be too frank, but that might happen anyway. She’s really never anything but herself. The only time she isn’t exactly genuine would be with her mother. But that’s mostly because she makes her feel awkward and confused, unsure of herself in a way that makes her question her actions much more than she should.
HOBBIES: -Quidditch -singing, though her voice is really nothing special -day dreaming -reading trashy romance novels -crafts
DISLIKES: -cooking meals -animals in cages -seafood -homework -needles -her step father -getting up early -draining people -letters from her mother -being judged -cheap make up -detention -summer
LIKES: -soothing music -going out on the water -baking -singing -making things with her hands -flying -quidditch -fashion -make up -birds -crafts -divination -gossip
FEARS: -getting kicked off the team due to her performance in some of her classes -being what seems like one of the only people to flunk out of Hogwarts. So she’s maybe a little paranoid, it’s not without reason -that she won’t have what it takes to become a healer -that she’ll never have a close relationship with her mother
SECRETS: -She feels somewhat replaced, as if her mother no longer really cares about her now that she has this new family she’s building. -She often wonders if she cares more about the people around her than they do about her.
"I enjoyed the meetings, too. It was like having friends."
GENERAL HISTORY: Jacqueline Girard was doing fairly well for herself as a singer. She’d been trying to make since she was fresh out of Hogwarts, and she’d finally gotten herself a song on the wireless. Life was good, great, amazing, really. Jacqueline was living the high life. Really, she was probably living it up a bit much, but she wouldn’t really listen to anybody. She had herself a song on the wireless, people knew her name, there was another song on the way, and people actually came to see her shows! It was an unbelievable life, one that she’d never imagined she’d get, but had somehow managed it anyway. She played her shows, indulged in the many perks that came with her new lifestyle, and just lived it up. There was no past, no future, only the present, and she was certainly living it to the fullest.
And then, Mathew Gibson happened. He was bad news, no good, but he was there. Always there. It seemed liked every other show she played he came to see, and soon she was taking him back stage to get to know him a little bit better. Of course, this was something she considered to be one of the greatest mistakes of her life. Why was that? Well, nine months later, on September the seventh, she was giving birth to a baby girl. She bestowed her name upon her daughter, feeling that it was truly the greatest gift she could give. Of course, Mathew insisted upon her having his last name, which she hadn’t been all too pleased about. But there it was. She had a daughter, Jacqueline Elise Gibson. This would have been just lovely if she wasn’t a twenty year old singer, just making it big. Having a daughter completely trashed all that she had built up for herself. No longer was there time to record a song, to play a show. Not when she had a daughter to take care of. It didn’t help that the father was no good, he did very little to contribute up until he got himself offed in a bar fight. Jacqueline couldn’t lie, she’d only been upset that she’d no longer be receiving his meager checks.
She raised her daughter up well enough, but she never got very close. She was aloof, at a distance, giving her everything she would need to know but never really offering more. Jac grew up feeling cold, hungering for more from a mother who simply didn’t care to give it. She hadn’t been ready for children, even if she did truly love her daughter. It simply wasn’t comfortable, and as Jac got older, it became quite easy for her to tell that her Mother had something of a resentment towards her.
Once Jac left for school, she felt free. Her mother did too. That was the year that her mother found the path she’d been on again, and got herself back in the spotlight. She finally got to find her dream again as Jac went off to Hogwarts. Her mother had been hoping for Slytherin, that much she’d made clear upon sending her off at the trains, but that hadn’t been in the cards for Jac. Jac got into Hufflepuff, and once she sat at that table she felt more invited, included, and wanted than she ever had in her entire life. Sure, she had a grandmother who was quite fond of her, but she’d never gotten close. Hogwarts was the first place that she felt truly at home.
Jac wasn’t the greatest of students, but she did okay. She stayed at school during the holidays, as her mother was quite busy with her career, but eventually made it home for the summer. The letters she’d gotten over the course of the year had not prepared her for what she met when she arrived. Her mother was something of a changed woman, more vibrant, more open. She was clearly happier, and that showed in how much more affectionate she was with her. It was strange, and while Jac couldn’t help but thrive under it, she couldn’t get used to it. The new bout of fame and success had clearly done so much for her, but Jac wasn’t sure how she felt. It didn’t feel real, being around her mother when she was so...happy. And she didn’t really get much of a chance to get used to it, either. Her mother started dating someone else that summer, a stage actor by the name of Francis Leming. He swept her off her feet and entered their seamlessly. Jac didn’t like him. He took all the attention she’d suddenly been getting away, and kept it for himself. It was like he’d moved in, really, and it didn’t seem to matter what Jac thought. Before she knew it the summer was over and she was back off to school.
Once the term had started it was obvious that her mother’s popularity had risen. She heard whispers and got questioned. Apparently Francis had been in Witch Weekly, and for some reason hearing about her mother’s boyfriend from her school mates irritated her to no end. Eventually the new buzz died down as her classmates got used to the idea, but Jac couldn’t. By the next summer they were wed, and Jac never really got back that attention she’d been craving.
Third year came, and so did a baby sister. Jac wasn’t very thrilled, to say the least. She was feeling replaced, and the more she heard about Denise, the less she liked her. Her mother was fine with postponing her career again, or as she called it, “taking a pause.” Jac hated that. She was supposed to be getting this attention, she was the oldest, the daughter that had never gotten it before. She couldn’t stand the idea that her mother now had a daughter, and it was a daughter that she actually wanted. It was a horrible, horrible feeling.
Third year was also the year that Jac started to realise some things about herself. There were some kids in her class that had started dating, and it became clear to her that she wanted to date too. But she didn’t just want to date boys like all of her friends, she wanted to date girls too. It was a strange feeling, isolating almost, but it was there, and it wasn’t leaving any time soon.
The years flew by, and Jac settled into her life. She got more comfortable with her family (which expanded to another baby sister), though she could never truly be at ease. She took up quidditch a little late, and got on the team her fourth year. Being a seeker came naturally to her, and once she’d gotten used to the idea of the game, it became exceedingly fun as well. She made more friends, got more comfortable with herself, and dated around. She kissed some boys, and she kissed a couple girls as well, and things were okay. The only thing that really wasn’t working out so well for her was the school aspect of everything. She tried her best, but classes just weren’t her thing. Concentrating on the subject at hand was near impossible when her brain was always wandering somewhere else. Discipline was exactly was she needed, but it was the hardest thing for her to really achieve.
Now that it’s seventh year it’s time to kick things into high gear. Jac really wants to be a healer, but academically that’s proving to be more and more difficult for her to achieve. She also desperately wants to create a better relationship with her mother, but wanting and actually following through and trying to create that are two very different things. The only thing she’s completely confident in is quidditch, but she can’t help but worry about getting kicked off the team for her poor academics. What she needs now is to focus, and of course she knows that, but who knows if she actually will.
