The Revolution Has Begun
"There's no need to call me sir Professor."
FULL NAME: Caleb Kent Dunstan NICKNAMES: Cal, Cale, Dunstan AGE: 15 BIRTHDAY: November 10th SEXUALIY: homosexual BLOODLINE: halfblood, it's assumed HOUSE: Slytherin YEAR: fifth JOB: n/a SIDE: neutral SPECIES/SPECIAL ABILITIES: None CANON: no
"You don't know what I'm capable of, you don't know what I've done!"
GENERAL APPEARANCE: Caleb has a strong jaw and a long face. None of his facial features are overly sized, he’s pretty much all even in that way. He likes to keep his hair short, and keeps it in its natural shade of a medium brown. His eyes however, are a very dark brown. He stands at the respectable height of about 5’10, and he’s completely fine with that. He has no real desire to be taller, he knows that true intimidation has nothing to do with how much taller you can stand over someone, but simply the attitude with which you do so. His body is well proportioned to his height, he’s rather muscular, and also lean.
He dresses very well. It’s important to him to remain stylish, and clean cut. He wants to have the outside look as put together as possible so that no one could ever even guess at the inner turmoil that’s a constant. So he always is sure that his clothes are clean, fresh and smart. He can actually be rather anal about this, to the point of changing his shirt in the middle of the day if he feels that it’s somehow been soiled, or ruffled. When it comes to the face and the body actually wearing these clothes, Caleb finds himself to be very attractive. He’s extremely confident in this area. Probably overly so…not that he stares at himself in the mirror or anything. MOST LIKED FEATURE: He’s pretty fond of his entire face, really. MOST HATED FEATURE: Looks wise he hates absolutely nothing. He supposes that he could always be more fit, though. HERITAGE: English ETHNICITY: Caucasian
"The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure."
GENERAL PERSONALITY:
Cal isn't a very pleasant person to be around, though that doesn't mean he doesn't know how to fake it. He can be very agreeable if he wants to be, but only to get what he wants. Because of this he's fooled many, many people, mostly naive girls who are taken in by his looks and attitude.
This attitude just mentioned is very typical of your run of the mill bad boy. He acts as suave as can be, but it's clear that he doesn't really even care. Nothing around him matters, and he gets bored easily. If you aren't engaging in some way, he'll probably just walk away and never look back.
Underneath all of this (more or less) act, you'll find a very secretive, scared person. He's haunted by everything he doesn't have and all he wishes he didn't want. He likes distracting his own head with messing up other people. Trying to make a mockery of others so that no one even notices that he's the one that's really got the problem. Mind games are his forte, and he plays one with himself every single day of his life, fooling himself into thinking that he likes the way he is.
If one were to ever call him out on any of that, he'd more than likely would fly of the handle and punch the person. He loves confrontation, but only when it isn't really about him. He can't talk about any of his problems, and he doubts that anyone would really want to listen anyway. This causes everything he is feeling to bottle up inside him, taking it out on random people for the smallest of things. He scares people and he likes it, because then they stay away. No one ever really gets to know him, he barely knows himself because he's always hiding.
All that Cal really needs is someone to be patient with him, someone understanding, but someone who won't take his crap. He's never met anyone who met him on the same level. You were either too good for him, too scared of him, or simply too boring. If there was someone who actually took the time to really get to know him, someone who saw past all of his biting remarks and moody attitude, then he might actually have a shot at accepting who he was, and what he could be. But he isn't counting on anyone ever taking the time. He's got pretty low self esteem if you couldn't tell, though to most people he seems to have a very large ego.
Don't let any of the sensitive aspects of Cal fool you, though, because at the end of the day, he has the ability to be very dangerous.
Caleb is a man of many strengths, and he’d probably list them off easily, and add a few more that probably aren’t really all that accurate. However, when it gets down to it, these certainly are true:
He's smooth- Cal always knows just what to say, always. Nothing fazes him, he doesn't have a problem keeping his cool and saying exactly what needs to be said, exactly the way it should sound. Getting girls? No problem- They all flock to him already, he barely even has to try. His style- Classic and cool, Cal knows what to wear and how to wear it. He's always in the best state he can be when he leaves the dorms, never a hair out of line. His attitude- He has the classic bad boy attitude, with the 'I don't give a damn' flare. It works for him. Usually you're either afraid of him, or you want him, just because of the way he responds to your "Hello!". Though, of course there are those that hate him for it. He doesn't mind, he likes to fight anyway. Wand work- It comes naturally. Cal can watch the Professor perform the spell just once and nail it on his first or second try. He just has a knack for it. It's all in the wrist. Quidditch- Cal is a great beater and a fast flyer. This probably has something in common with his adept wand work skills (the beater part, anyway). He’s not exactly a team player, however, so he’s never really felt the need to actually join the team. Corrupting- He's already so terrible, it's so easy to rub a little off on others. And oh how he loves to do so.
Caleb doesn’t want anyone to know it, but underneath all of the grand acts of self preservation he’s actually a very weak person. Sure, he acts like he doesn’t care, acts unaffected, but there are plenty of things that really tear him down:
Boys- He tells himself that he doesn't like the way a boy looks any more than any other boy does, but he knows deep down that's a lie. He knows that in reality, every time he sleeps with a girl he's pretending that she's something else. His mother- She died right at the end of his first year, and since then, he's never been the same. You so much as mention his adoptive mother and you'll get a nasty look, he hates hearing about her. Yet at the same time, he yearns for her still, and that's probably one of the reasons he's constantly seeking feminine attention, even if he's gay. His cat- Rufus is the only thing in the world that he truly, unconditionally loves. There's an innocence between them that you'll find no where else with Cal. Cigarettes- He's addicted. They calm his nerves and help him relax. Plus, he's grown to love the taste. And the attention that he gets for it isn't too shabby either. Coffee- It wakes him up, and he can't start his day without it. He literally has a house elf bring him a steaming cup to his dormitory every morning before he gets ready for the day. His Father- While Cal isn't exactly all that fond of his father,he can't help but want to please him. This is one reason that he is so completely in the closet about his sexuality. He knows that if his father ever found out, it wouldn't be very good. On the other hand, Cal usually doesn't even want to spend any time with the man, knowing that he'd gain nothing from it but a sour attitude. A good fight- Cal won't back down from a fight, in fact, he looks for them. He'll say exactly what you don't want to hear just to get you to swing the first punch. He loves the rush of adrenaline it gives him. And it's also a good way to generally take out his anger at the world. Then there's the fact that fighting with a guy is very physical, and he can't deny that it turns him on. Call it a guilty pleasure.

GENERAL HISTORY:
November 10th was the day that Caleb Kent was born into this present life. It was a quiet birth, in a hospital room at St. Mungo's. Caleb's mother brought him into this world and then left him there, only giving him life and two names. She was gone before the healers even noticed, her name never even put on record.
What was St. Mungo's to do under a situation such as this? It was simple, you get brought to the local wizarding orphanage and set up with a nice little crib in the corner. Caleb spent about four years there, and they were four years he barely remembered. What he did take with him, however, were memories of cramped quarters, smelly children and a kind face over his crib. When he left, he was taken away to a completely different place.
His new home in Birmingham, England, was larger than life, a place so big it was almost cold. Cal grew up thinking that way, never fully feeling like he belonged there. It didn't help that his father (Bradshaw Dunstan) made it be known the reasoning behind his adoption. Bradshaw was a pivotal figure in their current society, a top Ministry official. Adopting a sad child from a run down orphanage only helped his image. Of course, the wife, Caleb's new mother, had in fact wanted a child anyway. Pertha was barren, not able to birth a child on her own. And so, Caleb just happened to work out for the couple, despite Bradshaw not even really wanting a kid.
Caleb could deal with this, though, when he had a loving Mother in Pertha, he didn't need Bradshaw to be his Father. He didn't really feel like he was missing out on anything. So he lived his life like any other boy wizard, except he just tried to keep out of his Father's way. That could only last for so long.
When Cal was invited to Hogwarts by owl, he was ecstatic. He was excited for something new, excited to meet more kids just like him. He couldn't wait for flying lessons, because he'd already learned and spending school time on a broom was an exciting prospect. By the time he got to Hogwarts, he was nearly bursting, he couldn't wait to start, though he knew he would desperately miss his mother. Ever since he came to live with the Dunstan's he'd grown attached to her more than most young boys would to their mother. It probably was because he'd never had a mother's love before and still really didn't have a father's. But he was a strong kid, and so when he left for school, he was fine. He had a few sleepless, homesick nights, but once he got used to everything he was pretty well adjusted. At first he wrote to his mother twice every week, and as time wore on, it became only once.
Cal liked school, he liked learning spells with his wand and the other boys in his dorm were decent. In fact, compared to his later years, Cal's first year was near perfect. And then he got the news. On May 8th, Pertha Michelle Dunstan, Cal's beloved adoptive Mother, died in her sleep. It was a shock, no one had seen it coming. Her heart had been weak, and she'd never gone to the healers to check for anything serious. Her heart just gave out, and she was gone.
Cal took his mother's death horrendously. He was checked out of school the day after he found out, and whisked away to the empty home by a nanny he'd never met. His father avoided him, he barely even said a word to him at his Mother's funeral. It was like he didn't even exist.
Time went on, and wounds began to heal, though they didn't heal the way a normal person's would. Cal went back to school a changed boy. He didn't like to talk very much, and he kept to himself. Hardly any letters were sent. He'd get a few here and there, though he could tell they weren't really written by his so called father. It barely bothered him. Without a Mother in his life he felt empty, there was nothing left to care that his only parent didn't seem to care about his existence, even now, after everything.
Second year ended and third year started, it continued much the same. He didn't talk much, though he did start to fight. It helped him, relieved him of the stress that he carried on his young shoulders. The fighting actually helped the talking, and soon enough he started to appear a bit more normal to those on the outside. He wasn't particularly close with anyone, but at least now he wasn't a complete hermit.
It was a few days shy of his fourteenth birthday that things really started to change, though. As he was becoming less shy, he was also noticing things more. Like the way that the girls in his year had started to look at him...like he was a piece of meat or something. And while it didn't exactly feel good, their attention, he couldn't help but like it. He liked being noticed, because he hardly ever was by anyone else. It was on this day, a few days before his birthday, when Cal started talking to girls. Really talking to them. And talking led to a lot of different places, especially when you're talking to a Slytherin belle, an older girl, maybe in her fifth year. By the end of their encounter, Cal felt like a man. He'd lost it, his virginity, before any of the boys in his year had even thought about it being possible. It was like a game, and he had won.
This feeling stayed with him, this powerful feeling. He liked the attention of girls, he liked the fighting with boys, he liked all of it. In fact, at times it even felt like it was the same thing. As time wore on he actually started confusing it, sex and fighting, and he started to like one more than the other. His fourth year made that clear, especially the reasons behind it. When one starts thinking about fighting with boys while having sex with a girl, and thinking about sex when fighting with boys, things start to make more sense, and get confusing at the same time.
Cal won't admit, even to himself, that he's gay. Admitting that would mean changing and changing wasn't something that Cal was very fond of. Plus, his Father would probably kill him. So he keeps this hidden away, deep inside of himself. He hides from it, instead doing anything he can get smash it out. Having sex more, drinking more, he doesn't want to even imagine it being true, when it clearly is. This realization has only spun him down deeper into these dark depths, and who knows if he'll ever make it out.
