Ever since the attack on the muggle-born girl, the life at Hogwarts got chaotic. Well, it got chaotic for Hannah at least. So, she assumed that the other students felt the same way. At any rate, her mind liked to race through thoughts about the attack to what might come now. She understood that the castle was supposed to be safe. After all, the Professors were consistently looking over the students, which she honestly didn't mind since it might mean less peer pressure on her. Plus, the castle did have some magical protections, which she read about in the library. Sadly, no one knew what caused the girl to be attacked, only that she was petrified. So, no one knew what dangers could be lurking around Hogwarts. What ever it was, she had to assume that it wasn't anything too dangerous. Otherwise, the professors would have to know about it, right?
Despite this security breech, Hannah tried to continue with her life in Hogwarts as smoothly as possible. While her mind continued to race, she would naturally still attend class and try to pay attention. Furthermore, she would try to act as she normally would as she possibly could. Evidence of her thoughts weren't visible by her appearance, which was a good thing. When it was time to go to bed, she was able to calm her mind enough to let herself sleep. So, it didn't appear to have an effect on her. Thankfully, there was only one attack at Hogwarts, so far. Since there wasn't a continuity of attacks, she shouldn't fear walking around the castle. An isolated incident was just that, isolated. That was always a refreshing thought to keep reminding herself about. As long as the attacks didn't start popping up everywhere, she shouldn't be suffering from a panic attack.
Yet, just the very idea of an attack sent shivers down her spine. Hannah certainly didn't like the sound of it at all. All of the rumors of the subject seemed to endlessly circulate. Whether these rumors were positive or negative wasn't an important factor or not. The school seemed to be entirely focused on the attack, at least at the time around the attack. Who knew if this fascination would continue for any length of time? She honestly didn't know. Walking around Hogwarts, she would continue to hear these rumors. Be it in the Hufflepuff Common Room, the corridors, class, outside, or just about anywhere there were students. Since her mind continuously floats these thoughts around her mind, it was hard for her to comprehend whether or not these rumors were actually heard, or just a figment of her own imagination. Quite frankly, both weren't a good sign at all.
Directly after dinner, Hannah had briefly returned to the Hufflepuff Common Room. With the conversations going on in the room and the students seemingly to enter and exit the room a lot, she felt that it was best to leave the room and walk around the castle a little. It wasn't curfew time yet, so she wasn't breaking the rules to walk around a little bit. Leaving the Common Room would stop her from hearing the rumors from her housemates coupled with the rumors floating around in her own mind. Walking away from this chaotic nature was her way to get away from all of the confusion. While doing so was relatively easy for her to do, doing the same thing with the chaotic nature of the pressures that she felt from her friends was harder for her to walk away from. Indeed, what went through her mind was complex, even more so since she really kep questioning what she actually believed in. Her self-confidence was far from perfect, so it was hard for her to make up her mind. She kept doubting herself. Following her friends gave her that source of identity that she yearned to make up for herself.
After leaving the Common Room, Hannah headed towards a nearby staircase. Her hands were tucked into the pockets of her jeans that she changed in to after classes ended. While she didn't mind the uniform, she liked changing into muggle clothing as well. When she had the chance to change into muggle clothing, she usually did so. With that in mind, her wand was always on herself where ever she went, in her pocket. This was less for protection, instead as a habit that she developed after five years at Hogwarts. She had no idea what reason she could use her wand for. But, she didn't want to be without one just in case she actually needed it. So, her wand was always on her person, usually tucked away. While she knew the benefits of carrying her wand, she didn't want to be walking around looking for a fight. It was best kept out of sight. The chances were quite low that she would be forced into a duel, so she didn't really worry about that possibility.
Hannah followed the staircase to the ground floor. Her usual route took her to the Great Hall, or the Entrance Hall to leave the castle to the grounds. However, neither place was her destination at that time. She walked slowly down the corridor, past the Great Hall. She followed it down a little to a nearby window. Sitting down on its sill, she looked outside to the nearby grounds. It seemed like whatever window she looked through at Hogwarts always had a great view of the grounds. Perhaps that had to deal with the fact that she didn't look out of every window at the school? But, she usually had good luck with the fantastic view. It always gave her a place to just sit and think. Just to let her mind wander to some topic. This was exactly what she let her mind do, as she sat on the window sill, looking outside. There were absolutely no influences that could drive her mind to think about anything else at the moment.

people change and promises are broken clouds can move and skies will be wide open Cadence had always wanted to go to Hogwarts. Ever since she had been old enough to learn about the place, all of her hopes and dreams had centered on the large castle that her father had attended. She had dreamed about getting sorted into Gryffindor and being a beater just like he had done. She was going to get recruited as an Auror right after school and then she would have made her father proud. When she had told the man of her idea, he had simply smiled and said that she was to make her own dreams, not relive his life. That was quite earth shattering for a five year old, mainly because she had never thought of anything else, simply knowing she was going to do the same as her father. However, now that Cadence knew she had the option to make her own future she was clueless. So she put off her ideas for the future and instead decided to focus on Hogwarts. Hogwarts was where her life would take shape and there she would finally decide what she wanted to be.
The year before she was allowed to go, her brother had gone to Hogwarts, much to her jealousy. She wanted to be the first, the best and the… well, she just wanted to know everything about Hogwarts before Dylan did. But she had sucked it up and went with her family to Kings Cross. Her first view of the train made her want to sneak aboard and just start Hogwarts a year earlier, however, her mother had kept an iron grip on her shoulder and refused to let the ten year old out of her sight. After they saw Dylan off, Cay couldn’t wait to go home, because she had one million thoughts buzzing around her head, and she needed to sort them out the only way Cadence really knew how. She needed to draw. Cadence drew for hours and hours, drawing herself on the train, herself sitting in class, the train, and the castle. And most importantly herself with her very own wand, something she wanted immensely. Her mother and father and found her asleep, surrounded by crudely drawn pictures with colored paints smudged on her body and hair.
When Cadence had finally made it to Hogwarts and had gotten sorted into Hufflepuff. She was slightly devastated, not only was she in the same house as her brother, she wasn’t a Gryffindor, like her father had been. But after spending just one night in her dorm, she was more than happy to be a badger. Hufflepuff’s were probably the best at convincing everyone to underestimate them, or at least they were in Cadence’s opinion. Sure, there were some of her peers who she figured could barely do anything, but for the majority, each of her housemates had their own field in which they excelled. Besides, no one ever thought a Hufflepuff would be up to anything, but really, when weren’t Hufflepuff’s up to something?
Unfortunately as of late, no one had really wanted to do anything. Ever since that girl had gotten attacked… one could practically feel just how palpable the tension was at Hogwarts. It was getting to Cadence, however, she chose to ignore the frantic looks that first years were shooting at one another, or how people were always clumped together, for fear they would be attacked as well. Cadence felt nervous about the potential threat that had presented itself at Hogwarts, but unlike her counterparts, she refused to believe it would come after her. She hadn’t done anything, and she certainly didn’t think she had provoked the heir in any way, shape or form. Or at least she hoped she hadn’t.
Walking back from dinner, a biscuit clutched firmly in one hand, Cadence kept her nose in ‘The Future in Your Cuppa.’She didn’t exactly like the book, but it was talking about tea leaves and she found that rather interesting in itself. The way to the Hufflepuff Common Room had been branded into her mind after years of attending the school and countless trips back to the room after hours. All as Cadence really had to do was to listen to the voices of her peers and allow them to lead her way. Sure, Cay looked up every once in a while, because the stairs always seemed to have a mind of their own, and in her experience they always decided to shift just when an unsuspecting student was walking towards them. Entering the common room, Cadence snapped her book closed and headed up towards her dormitory. Knocking to make sure no one was doing anything she had no business of seeing, Cadence entered with a smile on her face, she loved her dormitory, the soft yellows made it always seem just so sunny and bright, even in the darkness that winter possessed. Cay threw the book down on her bed and whipped her wand out of her front pocket and charmed her uniform into some Muggle clothing.
That was one thing Muggles certainly got correct, their clothes were probably the most comfortable things on the face of the earth. Most of her housemates always liked to wear Muggle clothes and she was not one to tell them any differently, because she was more than guilty of it. Grabbing her satchel and her History of Magic text book, Cadence headed down to the Common Room. But finding two fourth years snogging in her favorite corner, not to mention just how noisy it was, Cadence left in a huff. Her pretty face contorted in a frown. Cay wandered for a little while, but every secluded place that Cadence found managed to be occupied, either by a couple or a group of first years. Finally Cadence happened across a lone girl staring out the window.
Cadence recognized her as a Hufflepuff. Abbott? She was fairly certain of that, after all, they were only separated by a year. She walked cautiously towards the girl and set her bookbag down with a thud. "Hey Abbott,” she said in way of greeting. “What are you doing all the way out here?” TAGGED ! Sitting there at the window sill, Hannah let out a small sigh as she let her hazel eyes stare distantly out to the grounds. While she liked to actually sit outside, she didn't want to be caught sitting outside at night. After all, she could sit still in one spot for such a long time, drifting in her own thoughts. Besides, it was a lot easier for her to simply rush down the short stairwell to the Hufflepuff Common Room if she was out past curfew. Thankfully, it wasn't that time yet. Thus, she could just let her mind wander on its own, despite her own better judgement.
While she did not like voicing her own problems, Hannah knew that her mind didn't have a single problem reminding herself about her own self-confidence. This usually happened when she let her mind wander. It usually began with her own thoughts about what she was trying to concentrate on. Then, her mind would begin to question her own abilities, her own intelligence, and even her actions. Surprisingly, the only thing her mind didn't question was her outward appearance. She wasn't overly boasted about how she looked, but it was just that she honestly didn't mind how she looked. Quite frankly, she thought that she looked cute to herself and would thus dress herself with what she thought would look best. That was exactly why she adored wearing muggle clothing a lot, finding the clothing to be comfortable.
Yet at this moment, Hannah was content to let her mind wander a bit as she sat on the window sill. She hated the constant nagging feeling that her conscious liked to impose on her. It made her doubt herself, which was never really a good thing. She could try to tune it out, but that barely worked for too long. That was exactly why she seemed pretty intent to follow what her friends told her to do. Since she already trusted her friends, she would assume that they were right. Besides, it would help her make decisions that her conscious would otherwise make her doubt. And yet, she knew the dangers that this approach that she used could cause. Thus, she was trying to make some decisions for herself.
That was exactly why Hannah was sitting on that particular window sill, rather than the Hufflepuff common room. She wanted to be alone, and try to think things through to herself in a quiet place. No, it wasn't to cry or anything like that. She managed to hold her composure well, or at least that was what she thought. She usually cried late at night when her dorm mates were asleep. But, she perfected it, so the sounds were muffled against her pillow. She even did it earlier in the day, muffling the sounds. Otherwise, she didn't cry while out of her own bed.
As Hannah stared off to the grounds, she let her mind start to think. With all of her worrying about getting attacked, she wondered if it would be best to pay another visit to Faye Green to help calm her nerves. She managed to break away and visit the young muggle born once after it happened. While she would love to rid her mind of the attack, it still managed to pop up in her mind. From there, it would make her doubt the safety that Hogwarts provided. It was even more troubling, that she would even begin to doubt her own ability to defend herself. Since she had no idea what even caused the attack, it was a hard notion for her to think about. The rumors that were floating around didn't help either. But, it was always helpful to be prepared, just in case.
From the topic of Faye Green, Hannah's conscious transported her into a different realm of thinking. Now, it was concentrating on her own intelligence. Her conscious literally made her question what she actually knew. This was exactly why she would review work that she already knew, and why her spells didn't always work the first time. Aside from the times that her classes taught new work, she sometimes found that she already had some knowledge on what they were learning, even though it was usually a very small amount. That was why she admired intelligence in her classmates, like Hermione, because of the confidence that they displayed in class.
With a short sigh, Hannah closed her eyes for a few seconds. It was now her fifth year at Hogwarts, and she knew that soon enough it would be time to sit down and take the OWL exams. When that time would eventually come, she would probably be so flustered, anxious, and probably suffering from low self-confidence more so than what she already thought. It was such a depressing thought to think of, especially within the realities of the newest distraction the attack was for the students. However, her eyes didn't remain closed for too long. As she was concentrating on her thoughts, a fellow student approached her. Since she was thinking, she didn't hear the girl approach. It was only when the older Hufflepuff greeted her, that her hazel eyes fluttered open in an instant. Looking over to Cadence, she put on a small smile. "Hi Shacklebolt, feel free to join me," she greeted her, moving her legs so she was now sitting upright. Alas, that pesky question was already being revealed early in their conversation. Perhaps traveling outside of the Common Room wasn't her best idea? It didn't help that she was relatively close to the Hufflepuff Common Room itself. Surely, she had to answer it, so it didn't give off any bad impressions. "Oh nothing. I just came out for a little walk, and decided to stop here to admire the grounds on my way back." It was partially true, since she was looking outside for the most part. At least it had some truth to it, and she was known to like being outside. So, her excuse should hopefully pull off for a good enough response.
