Brianna sat stiffly in her seat, eyes focused forward on her hands as they idly played with the empty glass in her hand. She had just consumed her second glass of butterbeer and contemplated getting a third; that is until she remembered the last time she drank three full glasses of butterbeer before quidditch practice. She was due back on the pitch in just under two hours and she wanted to curse herself for scheduling practice on a Hogsmeade weekend. Despite the fact that she usually visited the town alone, she always looked forward to her tiny escape from the confines of the castle. Being scheduled every hour of the day between prefect duties, quidditch practice, homework and extra research was beginning to take it's toll on Brianna. Her trips to Hogsmeade became the only peace she could find to think about anything and everything not related to Hogwarts.
Not that she was particularly fond of thinking either. More time she got to herself meant more time to dwell on her past and how much she missed her old muggle life. Sure having magic was cool and everything, and she honestly would not trade quidditch for anything in the world; but other than that she had no strong emotional connection to the wizarding world. Times were getting darker, she could feel the tension in the air and yet she couldn't find it in her heart to sympathize with any of it. She was fully aware of the blood and house prejudices, and in her personal opinion it was all just a waste of bloody time. Brianna never particularly liked pureblood fascists, but she stayed out of their way so they stayed out of hers. She didn't believe in their discrimination based on blood type and family history, but she couldn't deny her discriminatory nature either. Brianna believed in survival of the fittest; she sometimes questioned why people who were useless to society were allowed to exist.
Just like all her other Hogsmeade visits Brianna sat at the same table in the Three Broomsticks, her brain filled with thoughts of her father and old friends. She kept in constant contact with her father, but being secretive about her magic from her best friends caused a rift in their relationship. They knew everything about her, and it killed Brianna to have to hide something this big about her life from them.
Brianna fidgeted uncomfortably, feeling awkward and unusually alone as she felt gazes of the other pub occupants around her. Did they pity her for being alone at Hogsmeade? Did they think she was being stood up? Their gazes made her uneasy and she just wished they would leave her be. The past few weeks had been the hardest, after breaking up with Luke it suddenly became the topic of conversation in Hogwarts. Money was being exchanged between the people who made bets on whether she was capable of committing to a relationship; she felt sorry for the poor bastards that bet on her. She was also partially seething inside, almost angry at Luke. She was the bitch that broke her heart sure and she was the heartless slut. Brianna had been confronted by a number of people, defending Luke on his behalf. It bothered her that he ever bothered to do so himself. She wondered if he bothered to tell people why the y broke up in the first place; because really, who gets married at 16? She wodered if she was heartless enough to share that piece of information with other people, she was sick ad tired of being the bad guy.
Sitting alone with an empty glass seemed unacceptable to Brianna, especially since her seat could be occupied by payingcustomers. So Brianna raised her hand and waved it in the air, signaling for a server. She wanted that third butterbeer so badly she was willing to deal with the consequences of it later. "I'll have another one please," she said stiffly, not even bothering to look up at the server. She wasn't feeling particularly friendly - although she never really felt friendly - ever. However the shadow hovering over her petite body failed to disappear. With a sigh Brianna turned her head to the right and craned her neck up, ready to unleash her frustration on the deaf imbecile. She thought she had made her order very clear. Much to Brianna's surprise, her eyes met not with the server who had helped her before. Not bothering to take notice of her new companion, her frustration grew even more as she spotted the server clearly busy from the corner of her eye; so much for that blasted butterbeer. "Can I help you?" Brianna asked in a bored tone, looking straight ahead instead of the person standing next to her, in hopes that they'd go away.

Weekends were always lovely in George’s opinion. Why you might ask? Well because on the weekends it meant that he didn’t have any classes that needed attending to. The second reason was because of the very spot that he stood with a wide smile upon his features. Standing at the entrance to the only muggle free village in Britain George couldn’t help himself as the smile upon his handsome features grew wider and wider till it seemed that the smile spread from ear to ear. A small brisk gust of air ran across the village bringing with it the chills of the coming season. Yes October was a beautiful month in his opinion. With the changing of the leaves it was hard to think it anything but beautiful. Of course this month also meant Halloween. Oh how he loved Halloween. The first years especially were a treat to give a little fright to.
Flipping the collar of his coat he shoved his hands into his pockets and began to make his descent into the village. As he strolled down the Main street he couldn’t help but glance at all the shops and the Witches and Wizards all huddled together ogling over the latest fashions and whatnots of the community. Turning his attention back to the road in front of him George knew exactly where he wanted to end up before the visit came to an end. Of course that stop would be a Zonko’s prank shop. It was always interesting to see what new items the shop would release. However it was figuring out what the items did that truly amazed George. But of course he own inventions were totally better than Zonko’s. After all Zonko’s didn’t have anything on the twin’s puking pastilles or their nosebleed nougats. Not to mention they were always inventing new items, just the other day they finally completed their Canary Creams, which when bitten into would momentarily turn the eater into a giant yellow bird. He would love to see Zonko’s top that.
Coming to a stop in front of a small pub he glanced at the window and was greeted by his own reflection. His flaming red hair stood out vividly against the blues of his current wear. His jacket was light only meant for the brisk weather of fall. Should the weather turn harsh and cold it would do him little good in preventing him from catching a cold. Beneath that was the shirt that he wore which was slightly form fitting and a bright vivid blue that matched the lining of his jacket. His jeans were faded blue and appeared white around the nears and at the rear of his jeans that signified years of use. His choice of shoes was easy slip on with a checkered pattern of white and black. Like his jeans his shoes showed the same signs of excessive usage, with the padding of the soles worn down to the point where he would be in need of new shoes in sort time.
Seeing his own reflection he reached up with his right hand and ran it through his flaming locks with a small sigh. It wouldn’t be too much trouble when getting himself shoes. All he would have to do is use his own money that he had been saving up to do so. Looking beyond the window he spotted sixth year Prefect Brianna Clodagh. He couldn’t help the small smirk as he took in her appearance. She didn’t seem to pleased about something. Although knowing Brianna from past run ins her personality was always changing. Walking into the building he casually made his way over towards his younger school mate before coming to a stop standing just slightly out of her line of vision. The grin only became wider when she gave him an order thinking that he was a server. It only seemed to make her mood go south when she realized that he wasn’t there to give her another Butterbeer.
He took two more steps before placing himself down in the seat across from the brunette. “You mean to tell me that you’re not happy to see me Bri?” He asked his grin still plastered on his features. George turned his attention to a waitress two tables over before calling out to her and asking for two Butterbeers. The deal was sealed when he gave her a small wink before turning his attention back to Brianna. “What has you in such a foul mood?”

Her eyes narrowed upon recognition of her companion’s voice. ¬She sighed in frustration, trying her hardest not to explode at the familiar voice, so rudely interrupting her quiet, thinking time. She was in a particularly foul mood that day, and the delay in getting another butterbeer and wasting valuable time before practice wasn’t making it any better. It had taken her a couple years, but Brianna was beginning to learn how to keep her temper in check. This included no foul language directed towards another undeserving human being and no heightened volume to express her anger; just simple blunt and honest words would do. Even then, people didn’t seem to be very fond of her honesty. Brianna thought carefully about the words she would choose to say, not wanting to start another little spat with George Weasley Their relationship was amicable at best, when he wasn’t being a complete pain in her arse Brianna actually found his company rather entertaining. She felt quite relaxed around him whenever they got a long, but most of the time their interaction involved her giving him a detention for one thing or another.
He seated himself across from her, only serving to irritate the raven-haired Ravenclaw even more. George seemed to intent on keeping her company, and company was the last thing she wanted at that moment. ”No, I’m not particularly happy to see you" Brianna snapped, Growing up in muggle primary school, once upon a time one of her teachers had told her that she was a mean and rude girl. To be completely honest, Blair didn’t think that was the case at all. She had never felt like her words were rude or mean, and hurting people’s feelings had never been her intention. Blair just preferred being completely honest. Nobody ever gained anything in life by dressing up words, sugar coating hard truths and making up complete lies. Why should she pretend that she was pleased over his presence when she really wasn’t. ”What do you want from me Weasley? Did I not give you enough detentions?”
When he inquired about her foul mood, Brianna bit her tongue; contemplating whether it was worth being consciously rude to her ginger haired company. Perhaps she would have time to enjoy the rest of her trip if she could get rid of him in a timely fashion. Examining his expression, Brianna thought better of it; he didn’t appear to be out to annoy her. Clearly he had filled his “drive Bri mad” quota for the week. The pair had cause quite the scene two days prior that resulted in Brianna assigning him to 2 Friday night detentions. At that moment however, it seemed like he had approached her in peace. She didn’t exactly feel bad about snapping at him, but she supposed he was partially undeserving of it. After all, he had done nothing wrong to her that day… yet.
”I apologize,” she said seriously, wishing that their butterbeer would arrive soon. She was beginning to feel parched for some reason; it probably had something to do with his unexpected appearance. Brianna wasn’t expecting company nor was she expecting having to speak to anyone, preferring to save her vocal chords for quidditch practice. Brianna loved quidditch more than anything, and making captain had been one of her greatest accomplishments thus far She had a good, solid team that year and she had full confidence that they stood a chance for the cup. Plus she wouldn’t mind putting George and his brother in their place, besides giving them detentions of course. ”That was uncalled for.”
“If you must know, this whole situation with Luke has been driving me absolutely mental, that and –“ she glared at him, just as both their butterbeers arrived, “- someone charmed my hair green two days ago.” Staring straight at him with a mixture of annoyance and amusement, she tried to make it appear as if she was still extremely angry with him; but in truth she was pretty much over it. She had bigger things to worry about than a bad hair day.

Most people would grow down hearted at the sight of her eyes narrowing upon their arrival or meeting of another person. However George Weasley was not like other people. In fact when most others frowned upon the idea of someone having a problem with them upon their very arrival they would become defensive towards the individual and narrow their own eyes out of frustration or defense, whichever way you choose to look at it. Yet George took her narrowed gaze in stride. He didn’t have to do anything to get her worked up, it was just too easy for him. However he wasn’t sure if he wished to continue to feed what little fire seemed to have sparked in her eyes or try and let the coals burn to embers. Surly the latter wouldn’t be any fun for him, however right now it seemed best to not cause a scene within the pub. George wasn’t one to care about rules or getting yelled at however he knew that Professor McGonagall would have a fit, and could very well ban him from ever coming to Hogsmeade.
So for now he reckoned that playing it by ear would be the best approach in this situation. Perhaps he could get her to calm down long enough to have a civil conversation with each other before getting her all riled up. Yes that was defiantly a good plan. How he would rile her up he wasn’t too sure of at this moment but knew that it would come to him in due time. Forcing an over dramatic frown to grace his handsome features he made himself look victimized by her statement. “Here I thought I would sit and buy you a few drinks. But if your gonna be a right sore about it…” He trailed off slightly as the frown that covered his features slowly turned itself right side up into a small smile. Even though they were both in separate years and houses they had spent more than enough time around each other to know by now the others persona. Although it did help that George didn’t care what others said about him or how the phrase was said to him. If he allowed what others said to bother him then…well…life would be very depressing he reckoned.
Brown optics closely watched her every move just in case she decided to do something to through him off guard. True he never would peg her as one to start a scene in a public place, aside from Hogwarts of course; although he debated on whether or not that was considered public since they kinda lived there together, but if she was in a right foul mood then it was any ones guess. Ginger eye brows arched themselves slightly when she began her small apology for snapping at him. Okay that was defiantly not something that he was expecting. He thought that she would give him a silent apology by not removing herself from her table to another.
His head snapped up slightly to stare at the waitress that brought them their Butterbeers taking his mug he gave a small smile and thank you before turning his attention back to Brianna. He began to sip at his Butterbeer and arched a single brow when she briefly mentioned a situation with Luke. Yet when she turned to topic to her green hair and glared at him he sputtered lightly on his drink. “Well…I thought that the new look might look lovely on your figure, however I was clearly mistaken…” He then put on a face to say that he was thinking extremely hard, “…perhaps next time I’ll try a magenta, or if you preferred you can always try blonde.” A small chuckle erupted from his throat as he joked slightly. “But anyways hair was two days ago, this thing with Luke sounds more pressing.”

Smirking at him, she raised in her mug in a silent toast before taking a sip of it. She felt the warm feeling spread through her stomach, stimulating a peaceful calmness throughout her. It was much different than her feeling of irritation and aggravation when George had sat down to join her. Contrary to popular belief, she didn’t dislike him or anything; he just happened to make her job as prefect very hard. Brianna loved rules, she loved following them and enforcing them, and she believed that they were placed there for a reason. It made life simpler and more orderly, as opposed to chaos and pandemonium, which she greatly despised. ”Tell you what, you pay for my drinks and I’ll try my best to place nice.”
Brianna eyed George warily, wondering if perhaps she had already said too much. She rarely liked talking about her feelings, and bringing up Luke had been an accident, not really thinking it would cause any problems for her. Whenever she was approached about her situation with Luke, she simply just walked away. It was nobody else’s business but her own, and Luke’s of course; she couldn’t help but wonder if he was spouting off rumours and lies about her. He didn’t seem like the type of bloke to do so, but she had just recently crushed his poor heart into paste so she really couldn’t expect him to be nice.
She was not the type of girl that unloaded her problems on other people. Brianna prided herself in being independent, above all other things. In her honest opinion, asking for help made a person seem weak and incapable. Sharing certain aspects of her personal life was never on her list of things to do and for 5 years she had refrained from doing so. Meeting and dating Luke, she began to feel herself growing softer and more compassionate. He had changed her, and she didn’t think it was for the better. Zane started teasing her mercilessly about losing her rank as “cap’n hardass” ; a nickname she so despised but at the same time took pride in. Brianna loved the respect she earned, despite her lack of friends. It didn’t appear as if anyone disliked her for her honesty and brusqueness, but they weren’t too fond of her company either.
Now here she was, sitting with George Weasley of all people and feeling the need to unload everything she bad been through in the past 8 months. On the outside she appeared to be unaffected by her breakup with Luke, but of course she would never let anyone see the weak, vulnerable and hurt side of her; especially when the break up had been her decision in the first place..
’I don’t know if you’ve heard the news yet, but Luke and I split up. I’m a free woman”. It had taken her weeks to recover, she spent her nights alternating between locking herself up in a broom closet with various boys and curling up in her bed reduced to full blown torrential tears. Everyone sympathized with Luke, and yet nobody bothered to hear her side of the story. She supposed she couldn’t blame them though, Luke was the kind and polite gentleman, while she was Brianna
Taking another sip of her butterbeer, Brianna held the glass to her lips, peering at George over the top of her glass. Placing it down with a loud thunk, Brianna closed her eyes and released a much needed sigh. The corner of her lips raised into a half smile as she opened her eyes and uttered two simple words. ”He. Proposed..
The moment the words left her lips, she felt a giggle escape from them. Before she knew it she had succumbed to a fit of laughter, reminiscing over the exact moment, just a week ago. At the time, the idea of getting married and tying herself down at a such a young age had been absolutely absurd; weeks later her opinion on the situation remained unchanged. She had loved the boy and all his kindness and naivety, but he couldn’t have expected her to say yes. He had been a close friend of hers for years, and over the course of their relationship he grew to know her better than anyone, even her bestfriend Zane. Yet, he proposed anyways when anyone, even someone like George Weasley knew that Brianna was not the kind of girl you propose to.
Through her laughter Brianna managed to utter out a few more words, not even daring to drink her butterbeer in fear of choking. ”If you touch my hair again Weasley, prefect status be damned I will ram you off your broom during our next match.”

The very sight of Brianna and George sitting together and enjoying several mugs of warm Butterbeer would have stumped any one of their classmates should they have walked into the pub. It was no secret that the two of them were constantly at each other’s throat. In George’s eye Brianna was no different than Percy in some ways. Always one to stick with the rules; They’re there for a reason, they should be obeyed. Whereas George strived to break as many rules as he possibly could. In his opinion life was too short to constantly live by the rules and do as others wanted you to. Life wasn’t meant to be just like everyone else and do the same things as everyone around you. Life was about living it to the fullest and always having a smile upon your face. You only got one life and you should always live it to the fullest, always follow your own path.
However as much as Brianna was the same as Percy she was also just as different. George reckoned that the only reason Percy ever put up with Fred and himself was because they were brothers. If they didn’t have the same blood flowing through their veins there was no doubt in George’s mind that Percy would have gone to the extreme in their punishment when he had been Prefect and Head Boy. But then you had Brianna who was sitting here having a drink with him, despite the fact that two days ago they were having a large yelling fit in the corridors over a prank that George had done on Brianna herself. He gave a hearty laugh at her compromise. “Sounds like a right fair trade to me. But what if you don’t feel the need to keep your end of the bargain?” He asked a small smirk spreading over his features. “I am a business man after all.” Of course he had no objections to paying for a few drinks, and he would be damned if she paid for their drinks during his visit with her.
Most others would probably become uncomfortable under the warily gaze after his question about Luke. Sure he knew that they were dating, it wasn’t a secret. In fact it was hard to hide when two people were dating. Although George did mentally kick himself several times over after he found out that Percy had had a girlfriend during their fourth year, his sixth year and he never knew of it until the very end of the school year. Even though he had to find out through his sister Ginny he promised that he wouldn’t get her in trouble with their rule loving brother and he kept true to his word. Oh had that summer been the best of his life…up until Percy received his Head Boy badge. His big head had swelled to great lengths.
George was about to open his mouth and voice that she didn’t have to tell him anything if she truly didn’t feel like sharing however the loosening of his muscles only served to creating a gaping hole in his face as his brows widened briefly out of shock before quickly snapping his mouth shut. “Oh…wow…sorry to hear that.” Truth be told he wasn’t truly surprised by the fact that she was now a free woman. He had been more surprised when she had actually dated him, instead of having just a fling like every other male she had been with. Although thinking of it that way made her sound bad and that was the last thing he wanted to do. He reckoned the best way to describe her was as a ‘Free Spirit’.
It seemed that when he attempted to take any form of sip or mouthful of his Butterbeer was always ending up in some form of sputtering. He had been in the middle of taking two large mouthfuls of the warm liquid when she said two little words. These words almost caused him to choke on his drink. Propose?! Luke was barely fifteen years old! Why would he even think of proposing? Let alone proposing to the one person who he was even lucky to actually get her to date him! “Wow…just wow…a bit young ain’t he…to be proposing an all…” He took a slow and small sip of his Butterbeer before gently placing his drink on the table before him. “Bloke should have taken it a bit slower. Fifteen ain’t no age to be thinking of Marriage. That boy hasn’t even finished his owls for Merlin’s sake.”
Although he guessed that certain people knew that they were meant for someone at such a young age. Look at the Potter’s. From what he heard Mr. Potter use to go around the school and tell everyone that Mrs. Potter then Evans would be his wife someday. And they seemed to be doing just fine. Perhaps if Luke would have waited another five or ten years his proposal wouldn’t have back fired on him like that. At her small friendly threat he couldn’t help but grin widely a look of mischief spreading over his features. “Well Bri, if you put it that way…I just have to try something now. You know me I can’t stand passing up such an opportune moment. I’ll aim for you; it should be a very interesting match.” He said with a small chuckle of his own.
Lifting his mug once again he took another small sip. It was probably better for his health if he didn’t take such large mouthfuls this visit. If he didn’t know any better he would swear that she was out to choke him as punishment. “So Brianna, what have you planned on doing for this fine visit today? It can’t be all that fun to just sit here by your lonesome.” She was always so tense about things and since this was the student’s weekend to have fun it would be a shame to see her so uptight about it. And of course there was only one other person other than himself who was a master at unwinding and having fun. This other person was of course his best friend and twin brother.

“Now, now,” she taunted, wagging her finger at him with her free hand as the other remained clutched tightly around her mug, “I’m a woman of my word.” As much as she had craved the peacefulness that came with all her alone time, Brianna could not deny that she was beginning to enjoy his company as time wore on. Contrary to popular belief, she had nothing personal against her fellow schoolmate. As a matter of fact, if he and his brother weren’t so hell bent on breaking all the rules and driving her mental, Brianna figured they had a shot at being really good friends. No matter what dire situation they seemed to be in, the twin brothers were always able to lighten the mood.
Though there had been many pranks at her expense, she also had to admit that most of the time they were funny. It was simply just too bad that it was her duty to crack the whip on them whenever things got out of hand. Batting her eyelashes she shot him a coy smile, pouting her lips with just the right amount of sadness and cuteness. “Don’t you trust me Georgie?” she cooed through her pouted lips, with a hint of a smirk hidden behind them.
The look on her face didn’t last for long before she winked at him, face breaking out in a beautiful smile that had yet to grace her face for weeks now. “Tell you what. If I fail t uphold my end of the bargain you get one free request.” Taking yet another swig of butterbeer, she could feel the warmth settling into her stomach, making her begin to feel full. Brianna knew she’d regret this later when she was running quidditch practice on a full stomach, but she was also having more fun than she had in weeks. “Whatever you want, no matter how ridiculous.” Brianna had no worries over what he might request of her. She had no intention of going back on her word, not intentionally anyways.
Brianna basked in the relaxed atmosphere, enjoying the friendly banter between her and George. She had completed all her assignments for the weekend and for once she didn’t feel weighed down by all her responsibilities. Prefect duties weren’t as pressing; she was just required to make sure all students were behaving during her time in Hogsmeade. She no longer had the obligations that came with being someone’s girlfriend, leaving her with much more free time than she’d expected. She never really realized how much precious time she had given up being in a relationship. It was nothing like her casual flings where all they sought from each other was fun. Being in a relationship required actually having to be there for the person, listen to their problems, share your feelings; it had become too much for her to bear. Feeling more carefree and relaxed than she had in weeks, Brianna contemplated canceling her quidditch practice altogether, something she was sure her team would appreciate greatly. Figuring she still had a couple hours before she needed to make a decision, Brianna pushed the thought to the back of her mind.
George’s reaction to her confession had been priceless, she had to commend herself on her timing. She leaned backwards, away from the table as drops of butterbeer flew from his mouth; she wasn’t too keen on the idea of being drenched in butterbeer and spit. “Smooth Weasley,” she smirked, happily downing the rest of drink until there was no more than a drop left. Pushing the empty mug aside she leaned forward, once she was sure the coast was clear of course, and rested her chin lightly on her intertwined fingers, listening intently on what he had to say. It felt nice to have someone understand her, and he had voiced all the thoughts that had run through her brain when Luke proposed to her. They were simply too young to even consider marriage. Hell, she didn’t think she would ever be old enough to consider being monogamous for the rest of her life. It just wasn’t human nature.
“RIGHT?!” she yelled excitedly, glad to have someone see her side for once. Unfortunately, her exclamation had been obscenely loud; drawing odd glances from the pub patrons sitting around them. Smiling sheepishly she lowered the volume of her voice considerably, “That’s exactly what I told him. It had nothing to do with my feelings for him, I was being realistic.” Brianna couldn’t help but smile endearingly at George,. The smile didn’t last long however, as she recalled the fallout that had occurred from the event in question. “He’s not taking it too well though y’know? A bloke like Luke, well he’s got a lot of friends and they haven’t been treating me very well.”
Her expression grew sad and bitter as she took another sip of her butterbeer. She held the mug to lips for a very long time, afraid of letting her emotions get the best of her should she choose to reveal anymore to her red-haired companion. “I’m not a bad person.” She uttered sadly, eyes downcast, into her mug. Brianna never cared much for what people thought of her, she had true friends who were able to deal with abrasive personality and a father who loved her unconditionally. She honestly could care less, but she was also only human; she rather preferred not being loathed for an unjust reason.
As fast as the sadness settled over her, it disappeared possibly even quicker. She had never felt this many changes in emotions from one conversation, but George seemed to have that effect on her. Whenever she began feeling overcome by sadness or anger he would say something that would always (forgive the cliché) turn her frown upside down. “Is that a threat Weasley?” her eyes flashing playfully yet menacingly as she cocked her head to the side, daring him to answer.
“I’ll have you know that I was having the time of my life sitting all by myself here, until you had to come and ruin all the fun. Seriously though, I scheduled quidditch practice for 2 hours from now. I am contemplating canceling it though.”

No matter what one was feeling there was always a single remedy that could cure anything in its path. And of course the brains behind that remedy, or at least part of the brains behind it, was sitting at the table with the brunette. Yes the one thing that could cure just about anything was a crooked smile and a good dosage of laughter to fill the soul. George didn’t care who you were, or what you were currently feeling at that time. Whether you be depressed, sad, angry, envious, panicked, worried or better yet in a joyous mood laughter could always cure it. In fact George was betting that if he couldn’t make someone feel better about a situation by making them laugh he would eat his own mother’s knickers. He wasn’t sure if it was humanly possible to eat ones knickers but he reckoned that if goats could eat human clothing then why couldn’t humans? Also if he ever got caught rummaging through his mother’s dresser there was no doubt in his young seventeen year old mind that she would screech at him till his ears bled out.
“Oh I’ll take your word, no worries there.” He said the small smile still planted on his features. But when was it never there? George loved to smile, in fact he had been told by several first years that he had a pretty smile. Of course this just only served to inflate his small ego slightly and only made the smile that had previously been on his face to only grow wider. He would also swear by Professor Dumbledore’s beard that she had a way with getting into a blokes head with a look like that. In fact he could have sworn that he felt his heart pace itself just a smidge faster than its normal rhythm. Ginger brows disappeared into a mop of Ginger hair as he thought about her deal. Oh yes that was defiantly something he wouldn’t mind agreeing to. “Well Bri when you put it that way, how can I possibly say no to that.” He stated as he took another sip of his Butterbeer. He began to wonder if he were able to get an order of Fire Whiskey seeing how he was considered an adult now. Perhaps Edward and himself would have to sneak out of the castle on a Friday night and just have a little fun.
“So whatever I ask for you have to fulfill my request....sounds too good to be true…what’s the catch?” He asked narrowing a single eye and arching a single brow. “I am known for ridiculous request. I am a George Weasley after all, hopefully you didn’t for that.” Bringing the mug back to his lips he took a descent size mouth of the copper substance. “But I’ll hold you to your promise, and I’ll behave myself.” He said with a small wink. Of course knowing that she came just came from a fresh break up he would watch what he said so as to not make her feel uncomfortable.
He gave her a small frown all humor briefly leaving his figure as he wiped his chin with the sleeve of his jacket and then cleaned up the small spill on the table using the napkins that were present. “Funny Clodagh.” He muttered however he wasn’t able to keep a smile from spreading back over his features once again. Yes George truly found it nearly impossible to never smile. The only exceptions of course when something horrid happened to his family. George didn’t care who you were, if a threat or foul comment was made toward his family he would come out throwing fists. It was hard for him to describe the anger that burned within him but it was something that only fighting like a muggle seemed to satisfy.
The muscles of his mouth pulled briefly down to form an over exaggerated frown when the people closest to them turned to look at her sudden outburst. Mouthed a silent sorry to the table closest to them before turning back to Brianna. He listened intently on what she had to say. Now growing up with six males in the family and only two females one would think that George wasn’t sensitive to these types of things. Ask Ginny, when George wasn’t busy embarrassing her about one thing or another he was a good listener. Not to mention he was excellent with younger students. His wide smile slowly turned into a small soft empathetic smile. “That’s because most others don’t have a good sense of humor like Fred and I…they just don’t know how to take your honesty is all. What’s that saying…the truth hurts? If they can’t handle the truth…well…that doesn’t make you a bad person.” He said giving her a small wink.
He was grateful for when the sad look within her eyes melted away to friendly menacing gleam. “My dear sweat innocent and lovely Brianna…I George Weasley…never threat anyone…I make promises.” He stated with a full beaming grin as he finished off his Butterbeer before raising his hand up into the air as he twisted slightly in his chair. “Oi TWO MORE BUTTERBEERS!!” He hollered over to the waitress whom nodded her head and quickly brought them two fresh mugs with warm Butterbeer. “You call that fun? I’ll show you what fun truly is. After we finish up here you and me will go around Hogsmeade. An for the first time in over a year you won’t be acting as a Prefect and you’ll just have fun, no rule breaking, just good old fashion fun. Otherwise my name isn’t George Weasley.” Taking a hold of the mug closest to him he pushed the other towards her and held up his mug as a small toast. “I say you cancel the practice and we’ll drink to that.” Like Percy before her, she took her responsibilities way too serious and never allowed herself to just relax and have fun. But if she agreed to go along with his crazy little plan then she would be able to act just like any of the other teenagers out there.

Brianna bit her tongue to refrain herself from saying anything wittingly cruel to George. She contemplated whether it was worth breaking her end of the bargain, just to se what kind of ridiculous request he could come up with. He was Geroge Weasley after all, and over their time together at Hogwarts Brianna had no doubt that he was capable of the utterly and inexplicably ridiculous. Though whatever he’d request from her would be undoubtedly fun, Brianna could hardly ignore the nagging feeling in her mind telling her that he wouldn’t hesitate trying to get her to break a couple rules. It was no secret that everyone thought she should loosen up more, perhaps have more fun. Everyone attributed her sarcasm and nastiness to her inability to relax and have fun. When he agreed to behave himself Brianna couldn’t help but smirk as she tucked a long lock her raven coloured hair behind her ear “George Weasley behaving himself? Why I believe this day would go down in history if you hold true to that.”
As she watched him clean up his mess Brianna felt her smile grow even wider, “Hilarious,” she piped in, trying to hold back her laughter. She felt a tinge of embarrassment when George was forced to apologize on her behalf for her unexpected outburst. She shouldn’t have gotten as excited as she did, but Brianna had spent the past week or so pushing down her feelings and swallowing her pride for the sake or Luke. It was beginning to take a toll on her heart and repressing emotions was so against her nature. She wasn’t the type of girl to think of other’s feelings, she lacked the grace and sensitivity as most girls but it was the way she was raised. One couldn’t expect Brianna to change her personality and every aspect of her life and the way she lived it just to please other people.
Smiling sheepishly she closed her eyes in embarrassment and shook her head as a light laugh escaped her list. She still couldn’t believe that she had just unloaded her feelings and thoughts on a boy she could hardly call her friend. They were amicable at best, when they weren’t at each other’s throats of course, but besides quidditch Brianna never considered her and the Weasley twin to have anything in common. Brianna winked at a couple of younger Gryffindor boys seated at a nearby table as they looked on in awe. It was rare to see Brianna smile as of late, due to her break up with Luke; and she was ashamed to say that she often took it out on unsuspecting by-passers who dared cross her path.
Being consoled by George was something completely new to her; being consoled by anyone in general was actually pretty foreign. Brianna prided herself in being independent and never needing anyone’s help; yet here she sat wanting to be told that she actually wasn’t a bad person. She needed someone, other than herself, to tell her that she was entirely justified in her actions and that she wasn’t a completely heartless bitch. Hearing it from George Weasley boosted her ego quite a bit, since he was always the one to knock her down a peg or two when she strutted around on her high horse. She thought perhaps he didn’t get all the credit he deserved. People always thought of him in a certain way, incapable of being sensitive what with all their pranks and joking; but Brianna was seeing a side of him she had never seen before.
“I understand that people can’t handle the truth, but why should I be blamed for that?” Sighing softly she peered at her empty butterbeer glass, wishing she had more. The idea of canceling quidditch practice grew more appealing as time wore on. “At least I have you on my side,” she muttered softly as she smiled at him through her olive green eyes, “I’m glad you understand me, you and I rarely ever see eye to eye. Perhaps we can start to fix that. ” She really didn’t mind his company and it wasn’t like she enjoyed warring with him and his brother. Brianna made a mental note to not be so hard on the two pranksters and ease up on them a bit. During times like these, everyone needed a good laugh or two and Brianna knew they were fully capable of delivering.
Sweet and innocent?” she snorted in a rather unladylike fashion, “Have you met me George? Where on earth did you get sweet and innocent from?” Brianna’s eyes darted towards him with an appreciative glance; he appeared to have read her mind about wanting more butterbeer. The pair hardly had to wait for them to appear and once again Brianna was presented with another fresh mug of her warm favourite drink. “I was having oodles of fun,” she drawled sarcastically, clutching the mug in her left hand Brianna thought carefully over his proposition.
On one hand, she couldn’t help but feel a little wary of his intentions. On the other hand, her time with George thus far proved to be very entertaining and relaxing. Nodding in agreement Brianna lifted her mug and responded to his toast, “Alright I accept,” she smiled, pulling her arm back to bring her mug to her lips. Catching site of her seeker she waved to him catching his attention. “Practice is cancelled” she called out to him, “spread the word and enjoy the rest of your day.” Returning her attention back to George she took another swig of her butterbeer, excited to begin their little adventure. “As long as you’re sure you’re willing to waste a perfectly good Hogsmeade trip on the likes of me. You must have had other plans. I’m sure you didn’t come to Hogsmeade looking for me.”

Feeling his lips beginning to dry out he dabbed the tip of his tongue out to moisten his lips before they could chap too badly. With the amount of times he was grinning and smiling doing so with chapped lips would hurt something fierce not to mention break the skin. And the last thing he wanted was to have blood dripping down from his lips just because of dried out skin. He gave a hearty laugh at her skeptical statement. Yes George Weasley was capable of behaving himself. It required much self control on his part but he could pull the feat off. But it would defiantly be a cold day in hell when he did so. That or his mother usually threatened him in some way shape or form. Not to mention they were rewarded with something, usually it was with something their father would bring home form work.
“Mum says miracles happen every day. ‘sides me and Fred don’t constantly misbehave and act childishly. We do have our moment you know.” But those moments were just that…moments. Every waking moment he was constantly doing something that he knew was against the rules. When in class instead of doing his class work he was creating new inventions or at least writing down the concept of what he hoped to accomplish. In potions he was known for causing constant explosions and once he created a foul smelling green mist that caused those whom stood within it for too long began to hallucinate. It had been the strangest hour of his life; talking to people and things that weren’t really there and jumping out of freight or attempting to touch and grab at mid air.
He shrugged his shoulders quickly at her statement. To have an answer for that type of question was like trying to answer why it rained, or why the earth tilted during the changes of the solstice. He didn’t have an answer to any of those questions, to hers or to the latter two. At the thought of them changing their rocky relationship all he could manage to do was shrug his shoulders once again. “The only thing I can think of for your first statement is that…people probably need someone to just blame. As for you and me seeing more eye to eye…” He chuckled lightly before continuing. “…well let’s just say that fire and water would have a better relationship than you and me getting along more often.” He brought his right hand up slightly and began to rub his jaw where it connected with the rest of his skull he then slid his hand around his neck to rub the back of his head slightly. “The only way we could fix this…is if you loosened up a bit more and enjoyed the little things and me actually following a rule or two.”
Of course if the situation called for it George was all for following the rules. But after a while he would get bored with not only himself but the rule as well. He clamped his lips tightly shut together to prevent himself from laughing at out and took a small drink from his fresh Butterbeer. “Everyone was sweet and innocent at one point…wait I lied…Percy said Fred and I were never sweet and defiantly never innocent.” He pretended to think back and attempt to recall a memory from his ‘sweet and innocent’ years. Of course the only thing he could think of was his years before coming to Hogwarts as slightly more innocent than he was now. All in all, not much of a change.
His grin only spread to impossible lengths when she agreed to his proposal. “Excellent!” He stated in a loud voice before taking a rather large gulp of his Butterbeer as she told whom he recognized as Ravenclaws’ seeker that practice was canceled. The bloke seemed thrilled at that news. When she asked about his initial trip he just waved it off without a care. “I can always come back at a later time and get what I wanted. ‘Sides this’ll be loads more fun. After we finish up here we’ll go to Zonko’s buy a few things and then set out among the crowd. An remember your to forget about being a Prefect. You’re just an everyday average Hogwarts sixteen year old running around with the Prankster-in-Chief of Hogwarts.” He boasted out his chest slightly at his self proclaimed nickname.

Brianna immediately felt guilty for assuming George and his brother were nothing more than pranksters. Though it was the appearance they gave off most of the time, she was certain that there was more to them than just a few good laughs and ridiculous pranks. Having witnessed many of their pranks firsthand, Brianna saw what kind of magic these two brothers were capable of. It surprised her that they weren’t doing better in their schoolwork; after all it would take geniuses to come up with the sort of thing they invented. “I’m sorry you’re right. You do have your moments.” she laughed, trying not to let her guilt ruin their happy mood. Usually Brianna was capable of brushing off bad moods in an instant, but the aftermath of Luke had shaken her enough that she found herself dropping into these moods more often than not.
The warmth of the butterbeer as it coated her tongue and traveled down her throat helped boost Brianna’s mood as she listened attentively to George. For a guy she considered a massively large pain in her arse, he gave some pretty good advice. Of course people needed someone to blame, she just hated that it had to be her. Then again, who else was there left if not her? They certainly weren’t about to go out and blame Luke for breaking his own heart.
“Okay,” she laughed, shaking her hair just slightly so her luscious long locks of black hair swayed over her shoulders. “No more Luke talk, what’s done is done. I’ve made my decision and I’m sticking by it.” Sure things were going to be rough for her, things were always rough post-breakup; but Brianna was determined to not let it phase her. So what if more people began to hate her because of what she did to Luke, she could just add them to the pile of people that already hated her for one reason or another. Brianna was certain she had made the best decision, for her and for Luke. He may not see it now, but Brianna had given him a chance to find someone who was truly suited for him.
Letting him go would be a slow and painful process, but as Brianna stared at George with his adorable red hair and freckled smile, she had no doubt that she’d be able to find a distraction or two to keep her mind off things. Pouting her lips just slightly, she stared at him with a wide eyed expression; she often used this facial expression to get her way and she wondered if it would have any effect on the Weasley twin. “I don’t want to fight anymore Georgie.”
There was some truth in her words. Though she found their occasional banter and arguments rather entertaining at times, she also found it more exhausting. George was good company to keep and if the two of them could just put aside their difference they had a real shot at being friends.
Unfortunately the world didn’t always work out that way, and things were never as easy as Brianna wanted to be. He was right in thinking that the only way to rectify their relationship was to change who they were. “I guess we’ll have to make do with what we have then,” she shrugged nonchalantly. She didn’t particularly mind, after all they were getting a long now weren’t they?
“I don’t know George, I think Percy was wrong,” Brianna said, eyeing him carefully so she could read his expression. The ravenclaw prided herself in being able to read people’s expressions, gazing intently into George’s eyes she bit her lip lightly and smiled through her eyes. “Well partially anyways, I don’t know about that innocent part, but you can be pretty sweet. When you want to be of course.”
When he told her he needed to forget being a prefect, Brianna nearly choked on her butterbeer. Sputtering, she took a deep breath and attempted to swallow, glaring at Geroge as she wiped her mouth with a nearby napkin. How could she possibly forget she was a prefect. Being a prefect was in her nature! The minute she stepped foot into Hogwarts, she knew she was going to be one of those students showing the younger kids around, enforcing all the rules. She was incapable of being just a normal sixteen year old, yet Geroge didn’t seem to see it that way.
“If you get us in trouble George I swear to merlin I will – “ Brianna caught herself before she uttered something rude or threatening that would eventually lead to some sort of ridiculous contest. “ – shower you with lots of hugs and affection” she choked out in a honey coated voice, her smile seemingly sweet and innocent in appearance. Playing nice was a lot harder than she thought it would be, and Brianna was starting to wish that she had just paid for her own butterbeers.
Finishing off the last of her drink, Brianna pushed her stool away from the table and leapt to her feet. Feeling energized and a lot more relaxed now that she didn’t have an upcoming quidditch practice looming over her head. Turning her head over her shoulder, she tousled her hair a bit before offering her hand out towards George.
‘Coming darling?”

George just shrugged off her apology. It was no harm done, and it took more than thinking him to be constantly immature to hurt his feelings. In fact everyone he knew thought that he was constantly immature with complete and total disregard for the rules. But it was true. Only when it truly matter did he actually do as he was told; that he would actually pay attention to the rules. Yet the ginger head prided himself in not following the rules. In fact he would be proud to boast the fact that Fred and himself had a drawer dedicated to themselves within Filch’s office. And this happened was back in their FIRST year at Hogwarts. He could only imagine what that single drawer looked like now after seven blissful years at Hogwarts. He would reckon that the two of them now had their own filing cabinet each. Perhaps it would be worth a break in to the care takers office just to get a peek.
He slapped the table gently at her statement of forgetting Luke. “There you go that’s the spirit.” He stated before taking a large mouthful of his Butterbeer. He couldn’t understand why people would spend days, weeks, months if not years regretting what they did or didn’t do. At least he knew that Brianna can state that she tried to stick with it, but it just wasn’t meant to be. Of course had it been anyone else sitting where he sat now they might think differently, but George wasn’t one to live in the past. To him there was no success in the past, only good times and loads of smiles. It was the future that mattered, and despite what upset one had now, they had to continue to push forward to reach that smiling future.
There it was again, that face. For once he found himself at a loss for words. It was a rare occasion when the Weasley twin couldn’t figure out what to say right away. Usually he always had a comeback and very rarely had to ever think of his response. But Merlin could she pull off the pouting lips look excellently. “Well…I..I’m sure we can work something out.” He stated with a ghost of a smile on his features. Sure he knew that they could never be the best of friends, but they could be something. Shoot he considered Hermione a good friend of his yet he also went out of his way just to spite her. It was rather amusing their bickering back and forth yet it was always in good nature. “I’d say what we have now is pretty good. We just only need to work on it and not let it get too boring.” He hated any type of relationship to get boring. Whether it be friendships or more.
His shoulders hunched up slightly before sagging as he thought of his older brother. Ever since Percy graduated from Hogwarts and left the Burrow to live on his own he very rarely ever made contact with the family, much to the displeasure of their mother. It also disheartened George deeply to know that his brother was ignoring the family like that. Sure having goals was one thing, but it didn’t those goals lose their meaning if you cut off your family? “Yeah…well..Perce liked to believe he was never wrong…” he trailed off as a quick flash of anger spread through his gaze before he forced a smile on his features and glanced up slightly to meet her gaze. “We certainly never made it easy for him. The git always had his breeches in bunch, so it was Fred and mine’s job to get him to loosen up.” He forced the anger from his brothers neglect of the family back to the far reaches of his mind. There was no point in attempting to think about that brother right now.
A wide grin broke on his freckled face as she sputtered at his words. HA! So it seemed that he could get her to choke on her drink as well. His eyes widened as did his smile when it seemed that she was about to go on a rampant and break their little deal of being nice towards him. Oh he could just love it if she did. Already he had the perfect idea forming in his mind. Yes it would defiantly tarnish her Prefect record. “Go on Bri…say what you truly wish to say. I was just LOVE winning a deal over you.” He said over exaggerating over the last half of his statement. “Although I don’t mind being showered in hugs and affection. You might only persuade me to actually do something worth breaking a rule or two.”
He watched as he finish her Butterbeer before getting up and offering her hand out to him. A mischevious grin spread over his features as he finished his Butterbeer with a quick chug before setting the empty mug upon the table. He reached out with a hand of his own to place within hers before pushing from his chair to stand. Reaching into his pocket with his other hand he left some money upon the table to pay for their drinks before leading the brunette out of the building and out onto the streets of Hogsmeade. “Off to Zonko’s and don’t worry about a thing. Should someone have a problem with anything, you were just getting ready to bark my ear off with disapproval and how go on about how childish and immature I am, and that I need to act my age.” He said hoping to wave off her worry. He wouldn’t do anything intentionally to get her into trouble. An if she did want he told her to do when he told her, then they would be in the clear and no one would be known the wiser that she had any part in it.
It only took the pair a few minutes before the came up to the best joke shop known to wizard kind. Well, at least it would be he hoped, once their ‘project’ was completed George hoped that they would outshine Zonko’s. Entering the shop he had to squeeze through it was so pack. “Alright this is where we split up.” He reached into his pocket to pull out a few galleons and handed them to Brianna. “I need you to buy some Filibuster’s fireworks. Meet me outside when you have them.” He stated as he made his way to the opposite end of the store.
It didn’t take him long to purchase what he needed, although what he wished to buy wasn’t going to come in handy in Hogsmeade. No he reckoned that Filch didn’t have enough work to do as of late and would give him some cleaning for the evening. Safely tucked away in his bag was of course several dung bombs and stink pellets. As he waited for Brianna to come out of the joke shop he opened his school bag and placed his purchased items safely away before pulling out a device of his own creation. The little black object was still in the works so he had several proto types and figured that now was as good as any to test the black device out.
