The Revolution Has Begun
"There's no need to call me sir Professor."
FULL NAME: Roxanne Demelza Macnair (nee Parkinson) NICKNAMES: Roxy AGE: 24 BIRTHDAY: April 19th SEXUALITY: Straight BLOODLINE: Pureblood HOUSE: Slytherin YEAR: N/A JOB: Ancient Runes Professor SIDE: Order of the Phoenix SPECIES/SPECIAL ABILITIES: N/A CANON: Yes
"You don't know what I'm capable of, you don't know what I've done!"
GENERAL APPEARANCE: Wavy dark brown tresses cascading down her back, Roxanne's luscious and rather long hair is something she often finds much pride in. With just a simple drying spell, her hair falls so perfectly as it elegantly frames her face. Free from any added products Roxanne usually lets her hair fall free with the exception of the occasional lazy day, where it is usually secured in a simple ponytail. Inherited from her father, Roxanne's eyes appear expressionless and haunting. A light blue-grey colour, her smoldering, piercing eyes leave no doubt that she is a Parkinson daughter. Standing at 5'7" Roxanne was blessed with long, lean legs giving her an intimidating height advantage over those surrounding her. Genetics and hard work contribute to her maintainable weight of 115lbs. MOST LIKED FEATURE: Her Hair MOST HATED FEATURE: Her Lips HERITAGE: English ETHNICITY: Caucasian
"The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure."
GENERAL PERSONALITY: Born into one of the most notably wealthy, prominent pureblooded families, one would assume Roxanne would be graceful, quiet, poised and well-mannered. Instead the world was surprised to meet the most abrasive, uncooperative and volatile girls of their lifetime. As a child she was raised to believe in the ideals of her family and all their pureblood friends. She is the exact opposite of what a refined, pureblood woman should be. It was often speculated that she may have been adopted into the Parkinson family, an idea that was quickly squashed. Unfortunately for Roxanne, her refusal to adapt to the lifestyle of her family and follow in the footsteps of her death eater relations places a rather large strain on her relationship with her family. Regardless of how they may feel for her, she still can't help but feel love for her family. They gave her life, raised her, fed her and though they rarely showed affection, she still received everything she had ever wanted; money never being an issue. She may not share their beliefs or condone their actions, but she would never want to see them die for them.
The best words used to describe Roxanne would be manipulative and cunning, traits befitting a true Slytherin. She is able to maintain her secret life as an order member without revealing her extracurricular activities to her husband and family. Her stand against death and destruction makes her slightly vulnerable, and a little too compassionate. Despite her upbringing, she never once believed that people deserved to die over something they had no control over. Going against everything her family believes in, while working for an order set out to bring the people she loves down; it's a wonder that Roxanne isn't more confused and misguided. When forced to engage in order missions, she does her duty like any other perfect soldier and keeps her opinions of blood purity to herself, but the toll it takes her heart is sometimes too much for her to bear.
Roxanne is capable of skillfully lying her way out of any situation, and can invent stories at the drop of a hat. Unfortunately, her ability to lie so skillfully also means she represses her emotions so much that they become bottled up with the risk of exploding at any minute. Being so opinionated and outspoken, it's difficult for her to keep things to herself; she only does so in order survive. Repressing emotions goes against her entire nature being so head-strong, argumentative and above all else - defiant. Roxanne detest being told what to do. She rarely thinks of consequences and acts in the moment. She is easily goaded and often responsive to personal attacks and insults.
Fiercely independent, Roxanne grew from being an obedient, opionless litte girl into a strong and confident woman; relying on nobody but herself for protection. If there was one thing that sprouted from being labelled the black sheep of the family, it was that it took away her sense of false security and stupid childish ideals. Roxanne learned that a parent's love isn't always unconditional and that the idea of love and marriage coinciding is false. Roxanne detests asking for help and believes that everyone person should be able fend for themselves. That specific mentality fuels her desire to remain in the order and take the matters of this war into her own hands. She works hard to keep herself physically fit and mentally stimulated, never wanting her future to be in the hands of anyone other than herself.
HOBBIES: Quidditch, Dueling and Reading DISLIKES: War, Death, Prejudice, Walden, & Being Ordered Around LIKES: Dueling, Ancient Runes, Teaching, Quidditch, & Learning FEARS: Death of her family, Her Husband & Clowns (Teddy showed her a movie on the muggle telly when they were 7) SECRETS: She is member of the Order of the Phoenix unbeknownst to her family & husband. She's also having an affair.
"I enjoyed the meetings, too. It was like having friends."
GENERAL HISTORY: Roxanne's childhood was nothing short of unbearable. There were many times in her life where she contemplated running away thinking that perhaps her family would be better off. Their disappointment in her was so transparent Roxanne couldn't help but feel hurt and neglected. Pureblood elitist, her parents taught her that muggles and mudbloods were despicable. She was raised to believe that muggles were below her for not having any magical capabilities, and that mudbloods were theives; muggles that set out to steal their magic and overrun their world. During her youngest years, it appeared as if Roxanne was shaping up to be everything her parents wanted her to be. Like all young and uneducated children, Roxanne believed that her parents could never be wrong. It wasn't until she met Theodore McKenna, a muggle boy her age, that she began to think that maybe they had been misinformed. The two children bonded immediately. with Roxanne hiding her true heritage in fear of scaring her first friend off. Her return home with news of her new friend caused an uproar within the Parkinson household. She was forbidden to see Theodore, and thus began Roxanne's rebellion.
From the start of their friendship at age 5 up until Roxanne received her Hogwarts letter, the two maintained a secret friendship. Roxanne was often found at the McKenna household enjoying a meal with his warm and inviting family. She always avoided talking about her family to Theodore's parents, and somehow managed to skillfully prevent the meeting of the two families. Over the course of their friendship, Roxanne's belief that her family was wrong strengthened. If anything, she much preferred to company of muggles than her own cold, stiff family. The two children were inseparable and as Roxanne grew older, the childish fantasy of one day marrying her bestfriend began to take place in her mind. Time quickly passed, and soon enough Roxanne was eleven with her Hogwarts letter in hand. She cried with Theodore as she told him that she was being forced to leave for boarding school. Their last summer together was easily the best and most memorable; their goodbye being the most painful. She left him with a kiss on the cheek and promises to keep in touch and return every summer unbeknownst to her that it was the last time she would ever see him.
Upon her arrival at Hogwarts, Roxanne was sorted into Slytherin, a fate that was practically written for her at birth. She rejoiced in the reunion with her siblings only to find that the three were not as united as they once had been. She felt as if her brother had no interest in her, something that never bothered her as much as it should have; but it was the rift between her and her older sister that caused her the most distress. Roxanne's sister was the queen of Slytherin, she was the perfect embodiment of what a pureblood daughter should be; and the moment Roxanne stepped foot into Hogwarts, she did nothing but sully the Parkinson name forever. Life in Slytherin was hard for Roxanne; she was ridiculed by her classmates, despised by her siblings and labelled a blood-traitor. Though she never stood up to the, she never joined in either. Roxanne made it clear that she had no desire to share the same ideals and opinions as them. She was lonely, miserable and missed Theodore more than imaginable.
After the completion of her first year, the three children returned to their home in Ipswich. The twelve year old couldn't have been more excited over being reunited with her best friend. Spouting off a skillfully rehearsed lie to her family, Roxanne dashed over to Theodore's house only to find it in ruins. She broke down into tears and screamed his name as she hopelessly tried to wade through the wreckage. News of the entire family's death came from their kind, elderly neighbour who found her crying amongst the destruction. Returning home to face her family afters hours of being gone, she received no consolation, no compassion, only the words "they had it coming" from her father's mouth. Roxanne never spoke of that day to anyone. In fact, Roxanne never spoke at all for the rest of that summer. It wasn't until her return to Hogwarts for her second year did she begin to revert to her loud, opinionated self again. The pain of losing her best friend at such a young age was too much for her to bear and from that moment on she swore that she would never be like her family; that she would fight against everything they believed in.
Life continued on as normal. Roxanne grew to be beautiful, smart, athletic and basically everything she was expected to be. A key chaser on their quidditch team, over the years she led her team to several victories which secured her the position as captain in her sixth year. In an attempt to fill the void caused by the death of her best friend as well as the rift between her and her siblings, Roxanne became an avid overachiever. She repeatedly tried to convince herself that she needed no one but herself. Immersing herself in school and quidditch; Roxanne went on to earn 7 N.E.W.T.s leaving a whole world of opportunities open to her
Roxanne was 18 and training to be an Auror when she was informed of her betrothal to Walden Macnair. Roxanne and Walden had a very complicated relationship. Informed of their betrothal when he was 18, Roxanne at the time was barely 7 at the time and far from attractive in the eyes of a new adult. Unable to call off the arrangement until she was old enough to be informed, he waited patiently for 11 years. Upon her graduation of Hogwarts , years after he had left, he came to visit the Macnair family with every intention of calling off the betrothal. Roxanne wanted nothing more than for him to do so, but that day never came. Unfortunately for her, he found her too beautiful and intelligent to pass up. Her parents made him aware of her little "situation" and implored him to try and "fix" her. Unable to bring anymore shame to her family Roxanne decided to make the best of the situation. She suspected him of being a death eater, but had no solid proof; Roxanne hoped that she'd gain more access to hiss secrets by being married to him. Shortly after her graduation, Roxanne married Walden; feeling nothing but loathing and despise for the man. He forbid her from having a career, despite her stellar grades and numerous offers. He scared her more than she'd ever admit. Roxanne was miserable, stuck in a loveless marriage but unable to leave until her task was complete. After four years of marriage he finally consented to her taking up a teaching position at Hogwarts, in hopes of having his fellow Death Eaters keep an eye on her whenever he could not. She joined the order with every intention using her her marriage and connection to Alden as a way to take down the death eaters, end the war and avenge Theodore's death.
