The Revolution Has Begun
"There's no need to call me sir Professor."
FULL NAME: Cho Xiu Chang NICKNAMES: None AGE: 16 BIRTHDAY: 8 July 1979 SEXUALIY: straight BLOODLINE: born into a wizarding family HOUSE: Ravenclaw YEAR: sixth JOB: none, unless you count Ravenclaw Seeker SIDE: the Order SPECIES/SPECIAL ABILITIES: none CANON: yes
"You don't know what I'm capable of, you don't know what I've done!"
GENERAL APPEARANCE: Miss Chang is a pretty girl with the tanned skin of her Asian heritage and the black hair and eyes to go along with it. She is tall for a girl of Chinese descent, but average height compared to the rest of the students at Hogwarts. Students, not girls. Cho is a bit taller than some girls, but then again, she’s shorter than others. At sixteen-years-old she is fully grown and roughly the same height as Ron, Harry, and Hermione. She is also a slim girl, who can wear form-fitting clothes without worrying about whether she “looks bad” in them. Her black hair is long and smooth, almost never out of place.
Her sense of style varies. She enjoys wearing the traditional clothes that the Chinese have worn, especially when dressing up, but she also enjoys wearing jeans or skirts, and t-shirts. Really, she can pull anything off. She’s not one of those people who looks particularly bad in anything, but she doesn’t think she’s as pretty as everyone else thinks. She thinks her nose is abnormally large and she doesn’t wear a lot of make up because she thinks it makes her look awkward, though she could probably pull off a little eye shadow or liner. MOST LIKED FEATURE: eyes MOST HATED FEATURE: nose (she thinks it’s too big) HERITAGE: Chinese ETHNICITY: Asian
"The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure."
GENERAL PERSONALITY: Though she’s something of a competitor on the Quidditch field and not afraid to spill a little blood, Cho is quite soft spoken. She has a general good attitude and doesn’t make fun of people. She’s friendly to just about everyone though she’s not a huge fan of the Slytherin House for obvious reasons. Despite the fact that she’s a quiet sort of person (because she was taught at a young age that there are times to be quiet and times to be heard) she’s very popular. She’s almost always around a group of people, usually a group of girls though she does have friends who are guys as well. She is very loyal to her friends and respects them very much. She doesn’t have a problem standing up to them though if she thinks they are behaving in a bad way.
Her big loves are Quidditch and reading. She’s a huge Quidditch fan, her favorite team being the Tutshill Tornados. She’s been a fan since she was six-years-old, and while she wears her Tornado memorabilia proudly, some have been known to accuse her of only liking them recently because of their sudden streak of awesomeness. She loves her position as a seeker on the Quidditch team and she almost doesn’t want to graduate Hogwarts next year because it means losing that place and starting a “real” life. Reading is her other passion. She can almost always be found with a book around her somewhere. She enjoys reading muggle fiction, escaping into their world for a bit. HOBBIES: flying, practicing Quidditch, hanging out with friends, practicing magic, reading DISLIKES: -Draco Malfoy (who doesn't like him, come to think of it, she doesn't like any of the Malfoys) -the cold -being interrupted when she's concentrating on something -having to say no -upsetting her parents -the feeling that everyone is watching -failing -when people make fun of her friends LIKES: (five or more) -Quidditch/flying -magic -China -England -Hogwarts -reading -a few select Quidditch players *cough cough* -her friends FEARS: -her parents dying -failing -letting people down -the dark (don't make fun, it's a legit fear!) SECRETS: (two or more) -she liked Harry before Cedric, but didn't say anything about it -she doesn't think she's as good a person as everyone else thinks she is -she can be quite shy when she feels out of place
"I enjoyed the meetings, too. It was like having friends."
GENERAL HISTORY: Cho was born on July 8th in 1979 into a wizarding family. Her parents raised her with traditional Chinese values, though later in life Cho developed some of her own values as well. Cho Xiu Chang was the only child in her family, as was traditional around the time she was born. Shortly after her birth, the Chang family moved from Beijing, China to London, England. She was raised to be bi-lingual, but she prefers English because it’s the language that most of her friends use. She’s very good at English because of the fact that she was raised in England and for the first ten years of her life attended school with muggle children who spoke English. She wasn’t as popular in muggle school as she was later in life, however, because of the weird things that happened around her when she was upset or angry.
When she was eleven-years-old, Cho Chang was accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It didn’t take long for the hat to choose which house to put Miss Chang into. She was sorted into Ravenclaw and it’s become a perfect fit for her. As Cho Chang loved to read and study, she was well suited for the Ravenclaw House. The girl became very happy at Hogwarts and though she was shy at first, she became popular quickly, whether because of her attractive appearance or because she was just a friendly person. She started supporting the Ravenclaw Quidditch team, hoping that one day she could be up there playing instead of in the stands as she had been a big Quidditch fan since the age of six. Her favorite team has always been the Tutshill Tornados despite the fact that after she started following their games they gradually got worse and worse until they came back again. This recent come-back in talent gets Cho accused of liking them only recently. In her second year she tried out for the Quidditch team and got the position as Seeker. She was, to say the least, overjoyed. She proved very fast on a broom that at the time it was bought was one of the better ones. Out of nostalgia reasons, she hasn’t gotten rid of this broom and still rides it. Cho thinks that it could possibly be good luck and that since she’s been riding this particular broom for so long, it would be a hassle to adapt to another. She was also given a small owl this year that her parents use to send letters back and forth.
It was also her second year that Harry Potter came to Hogwarts. Originally, Cho didn’t think much about the newest addition to Hogwarts, just another student. Of course, at this age Cho wasn’t particularly looking for romance, she was too focused on her studies and Quidditch practice. Soon though, it turned out that Mr. Potter was quite interesting. She noticed, as did almost everyone else, that he acquired the position as seeker of his Quidditch team during his first year. That in itself was interesting enough for Cho, since she had been told that first years never make the house teams.
Her fourth year was when she first actually met Harry. Well, if that was what you could call it. It was when she started having feelings for him that she didn’t particularly want to tell anyone else about. Maybe it was just because they were both seekers and on opposing teams. She smiled at Harry before a match that he beat her at. Later she wished Harry good luck against the Slytherin team, but other than that, there was rarely any real contact between them. Cho made sure she kept away, thinking that her feelings might go away if she didn’t see him all the time. After all, it was a bit odd, falling for a guy a year younger than her. The years after followed in much the same way, though she also had a thing for Cedric at one point. She still catches herself trying to sneak a peak at Harry in the hall or at meal times, but she doesn't let it affect her studies. FAMILY: # Mr. Chang (father) # Mrs. Chang (mother)
"Make way for the heir of Slytherin, seriously evil wizard coming through..."
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE: The ride from Platform Nine and Three Quarters hadn’t been incredibly enlightening. It had rained almost the entire way there and that hadn’t stopped once the train had reached Hogwarts. Half the time Cho was afraid the train might slip off the tracks, though she kept reassuring herself that there was no way that could happen since it was the Hogwarts train after all. She had changed into her robes early and her hair had been left down. Now that she was outside and standing in the rain waiting for the carts that pulled themselves with her small little owl, Cho thought her hair was probably making her look more like a large drenched rat than a Hogwarts student. Her robes were beginning to get weighed down by the rain water and the bottoms were getting muddy from walking around in the rain. Her clothes clung to her body as much as they possibly could. Her owl hooted with displeasure. And it was starting to get cold since it was night. Cho didn’t like the cold, not at all. This was still practically summer and she was drenched at night and freezing. Not to mention that being back at Hogwarts reminded her of Cedric. This wasn’t starting out to be a particularly great year.
She climbed into a cart with several girls who had decided that talking about the horrid weather was the best way to pass the time. Cho was quiet. She didn’t want to say anything about the weather. She didn’t even want to think about the weather anymore. Maybe if she thought warm thoughts she wouldn’t feel as cold. Her friends noticed that she was huddled up slightly, though they didn’t know that it was also partially out of the emotional pain of being back at Hogwarts. One of them said something jokingly about how Cho must not be used to cold weather, which was odd since she lived in London. The Asian girl decided not to say anything about how in London, when it’s cold it’s usually winter and she was better dressed. She’d give anything for her scarf right now.
The carriages stopped and Cho got out, grabbed her things and then set them with everyone else’s to be magically taken up to their rooms. She said goodbye to her little owl and decided that she’d visit her at once in the Owlry the next day. As she walked into the Great Hall with her friends, she thought about the upcoming year. Maybe she could make something good out of it anyway, though she didn’t know if she was going to be able to get over Cedric’s death. She felt partially responsible for it, even if she hadn’t been there. She sat down and looked over at the Gryffindor table, trying to catch a glimpse of Harry and then feeling guilty for doing so, though she’d already decided over the summer that she wasn’t going to ask him what happened to Cedric. Not the details anyway, she didn’t want to know how painful his death was. She thought that might have been a little selfish of her, but she’d like to think that he didn’t feel much pain. Though, according to Harry Potter (and Cho believed him), Cedric had been murdered on the Dark Lord’s orders, so the chance of there being little pain probably wasn’t that great. The first years entered and Cho stopped looking around; instead she just looked at the sorting had and clapped along with her fellow Ravenclaws whenever someone was sorted into their house.
"Reading between the lines, I’d say she thinks you’re a bit conceited, mate."
